The Des Moines Register reports a new corn variety called the German corn produced by Iowa farmer experiments. It yields up to 150 bushels per acre, grows 10 to 12 feet high, with 3 to 7 ears per stalk and one grain per hill. The ears measure about nine inches and kernels are large. Only about 75 bushels have been produced this year, but seed could plant a large field next year. When adopted widely it could make corn the cheapest fuel.
