Hamilton County Commissioners announce C E T A Title VI funded positions for Harrison village. One non certified and one certified policeman will be hired without extra village taxes. Salaries and benefits covered by the tax base. program ends June 30 1976 with potential continuation.
The North Dearborn area launches an August campaign to raise 35000 dollars to buy a fully equipped Rescue Unit and radio gear. Volunteers will canvas doors during August 1 to 17. Mrs. George Annie Palazzo of Annie's Attic recently returned from Rhode Island.
Pre season football conditioning starts Friday August at 7 p.m. at the high school stadium. All boys in grades 9 through 12 planning to play this year should attend. If unavailable contact Coach Bamonte at 367-9893.
Water and sewer bills for August will be mailed late due to a system change. Mailing is expected around August 7th or 8th. Call the office before August 15th to confirm status or ask questions.
All girls and boys planning to participate in interscholastic athletics at Harrison School or Harrison Junior School may get physicals at the High School on August 13 starting at 2 30. A team of doctors will conduct the exams for a 3.00 fee with girls seen first at 2 30 and boys around 3 30. Those not tested then must obtain their own from family physicians. The Century and Silver Committee announces a meeting on August 4 1975 at 7 30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Vine Street Harrison. All members urged to attend as the celebration approaches and much remains to be done. Remember it will be August 4 7 30 p.m.
A reader requests an honest, non evasive answer about the Russian grain deal. The letter questions U S government support for a government viewed as adversarial and argues about wartime debts and future grain sales and higher food prices.
Carthage Fair Board hosts a Kick-Off party on Fountain Square Cincinnati for Hamilton County Fair opening. The event occurs August 5 1975 with the fair starting August 6. Harrison Century Silver Committee invited. round trip costs 1.00 per person. bus reservations via Mrs Marge Spiller 6552541.
The Harrison Branch Library hosts a series of film programs in the Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church. Ages 6 to 10 attend 2:30 p.m. film sessions on July 30 August 4 August 13 and August 20. A picture-book program for ages 3-5 and a Story Hour for ages 6-9 are scheduled with a reading program reward.
The Queen City Pattern Class B softball tournament will take place at the Harrison VFW on August 9 and 10. Trophies awarded for top teams include major team prizes, 1st and 2nd place individual trophies, and a homerun and MVP trophy. Draw is set for Wednesday, August 6 at 8 p.m. at VFW. A SPCA notice warns against leaving dogs in parked cars with closed windows.
Governor Otis Bowen dedicates the Brookville Lake a 43 million dollar project praised as a major flood control and economic asset. The ceremony honors the steering committee and notes the lake will boost jobs, revenues, and outdoor recreation for Ohio Valley communities.
Arthur E. Bourquein aged 66 husband of Freda Calvert Bourquein died after electrocution while working in a cistern at his Whites Hill Rd home on Tuesday July 22. Funeral services were held July 25 at Jackman Funeral Home with Rev. William Cropper of Logan United Methodist Church officiating. survivors include William Wright of Hamilton Ohio and Arthur Bourquein of Batesville Indiana, four grandchildren, two brothers Forrest and Ernest Bourquein and a sister Hannah Bourquein.
Covington police charged Rollman Stokes Cleves man with murder in the first degree and first degree assault after a shooting that left Rollman Stokes dead on arrival at St Elizabeth Hospital. His brother Daniel Francis 23 Latonia in critical condition with chest wounds near 44th St and Decoursey Ave Latonia. Police said Rollman had a .38 revolver with all six cartridges fired. The Francis brothers were found nearby.
