First Lady ushers in discussion as Maurice receives award from Xi Etalota president Alishea Reed. She presents ten yellow rose bushes while officials outline plans for two major community projects at the upcoming town meeting on April 30.
An East Central High School senior has been named a National Merit Scholar finalist. The student, a French club president and treasurer, also led the Math and social studies clubs and studied physiology as part of the program. About 1,450 students national wide earned the scholarship.

Earl Romohr, longtime Harrison Elementary principal and district instrumental music teacher since 1955, will retire June 30. He shaped a humane, student centered atmosphere and emphasized listening to students as core teaching. A town meeting on April 30 will discuss two major projects including landfill and water works improvements.
Band director Doug Parrott cites hard work and dedication for high ratings at the state level. Karen Berkey, director of the Girls Ensemble, calls the accomplishment a rise to top performance, noting students’ effort and progress in the competition.
