Five Finalists Named For 1985 First Lady of the Community
In Harrison Ohio Xi Eta Lota Chapter Beta Sigma Phi announced five finalists for 1985 First Lady of the Community. The candidates Maurice Cordray Olive Jackman Jeanne Kaeser Margie Metz and Gertrude Nolan. A public reception to reveal the winner will be held April 20 at PFC Restaurant from 2 to 4 pm with a $4 per person entry. reservations due by April 18.

Thirty Whitewater Township Senior Center members visited the high school on April 15, each paired with a student escort to observe classes from physical education to computer science. The day included lunch with musical offerings from Cabaret Summer Nights Fame and a vocal solo by Shanti Kaushiva, plus a Girls presentation and a What I Did For Love solo. Seniors praised hospital ity and noted how courses have changed over the years.

Don Evans seeks a zone change for fifteen acres on Attim Trate to allow a $2.5 million Harrison Retirement Center. The project calls for R-4 zoning and a multi phased complex with 150 independent units, 75 congregate units, and 100 nursing beds, 24 hour staffing, health services, on call physician, and 50 to 100 new jobs with a possible completion by May 1986.

Twin Rivers Water Corp has approved a loan to extend water service to Harrison Avenue Morgan Road to I 75 Luther Lane Strimple Road West Road and Buena Vista. Winton Savings & Loan donated 3000 to sponsor a field in Harrison Junior Baseball League on Campbell Road 30 acre complex. Officer Manager Carol Ragar presented the check to Vice-President Chuck Rudisell and Funding Chairman Randy Grubbs on Friday April 12. Eight fields planned, 550 children ages 6 to 16 in 45 teams. Games run May 1 to August 3 ending with All-Star Games.

Mystery park graves tied to early 1800s plot in town
Fragments describe three graves at a park corner of Hill and Park Streets dating to the Revolutionary era. One man died in 1837 in Harrison and his wife Rachel Bonnell and son Samuel are buried there. Elizabeth Turrell notes Rachel was a charter member of the 1811 Presbyterian Church. Lane resigns Brookville High School post due to health
John E. Lane, assistant principal since 1975, resigns from Brookville High School for health reasons. Franklin County Community School Trustees accept his July 1 effective date. Lane served 33 years in the district and coached basketball for three years. He was 1950 MVP and All-Conference first team, played with Green Bay Packers farm team, served in the Korean War, and later coached at San Luis Obispo Army base before joining Brookville.
