In Viborg Finland on July 24 the last act of Russia’s first parliament ended with 186 members signing a revolutionary address and forming a perpetual executive committee led by Prince Dolgoroukoff. They urge refusing taxes and military service and denounce government loans while vowing to support the people until new representation is convoked.
Spokane July 24 The Great Northern fast train west bound with engine express and smoking cars submerged in Diamond Lake a mile and a half west of Camden about 20 miles from Spokane. Nine men in the smoking cars drowned and the engine crew are dead in the deep water after rails spread at tunnel portal causing the locomotive to plunge 60 feet down the embankment.
London July 24 The 14th conference of the interparliamentary union opened in Westminster's royal gallery. Prof Maxim Kovalevsky announced he and colleagues from the youngest parliament would withdraw due to the dissolution of the body they officially represented.
In Trenton Missouri on July 24 Patrick Woods 70 a wagonmaker at Alpha was killed by his son Christopher at the son's home. The elderly man intoxicated went to the house and threatened inmates with violence. Christopher beat his father to death with a club.
The body of Lady Curzon was laid to rest in Kedleston village churchyard in a small ceremony with only immediate relatives present. Bishop Weldon, formerly bishop of Calcutta, officiated the service as the Curzon family observed the private burial.
Congressman and Mrs Longworth were thrown from their auto near Wuerzburg Bavaria but suffered no injuries and reached Bayreuth in time for the opera.
In Detroit on July 24 Carl Wilson aged 21 took his life with a shotgun in W M Frushers boarding house. He left a note to his brother Glen blaming cigarettes and saying they did him up.
Saratoff Russia July 24 all newspapers in the city have been suppressed. Dozens of arrests have occurred and immediate revolutionary outbursts are expected throughout the Volga provinces.
Annapolis Maryland July 24 three members of the new fourth class at the naval academy are confined to the academy hospital with typhoid fever Eugene Thorp Louisiana J H Smith Ohio and Edward Webb Louisiana are the names listed as being ill at the academy hospital the report notes the spread appears limited to these three cadets and no others are reported ill at this time.
In St Louis on July 24 a former Union Trust Co teller Charles H Ev erly vanished last Thursday. He was discovered short in his accounts by about $5,000 and was discharged from his position.
Mrs. Isabell Cantle Cantlebury recently gained about $10 000 from J L Norton’s death. Guardianship by Dr F A Stickney is to recover any unjust gains. Chicago socialite Mrs Moffatt allegedly sought a share. suit by Owen & Owen targets Stickney and Fetzer. Interpleader requested as $462 64 claimed by each defendant.
John D. Rockefeller plans a Cleveland visit to spend the late summer at Forest Hill accompanied by his physician Dr. H. F. Biggar. He is due to arrive by Lake Shore railroad this Saturday and will reside in Ohio for the season, with extensive preparations underway at Forest Hill.
General Dick issues orders for the Ohio National Guard annual maneuvers in Tuscarawas county from August 13 to 20. The first brigade camps at Bolivar as the army of the blue, the second at Strausburg as the army of the brown, with division HQ and engineers at Strasburg. Units to arrive ahead of the dates. focus on troop movements and subsistence procedures.
Toledo detectives and fire marshals pursue a suspected incendiary attack at the Sutton foundry. Night Watchman Lohmer discovered the blaze early and put it out before it spread. Executive C. E. Sutton identifies two men fired during the strike as the prime suspects.
After a five day session in Canton an agreement ends the strike for the fifth district. Three thousand miners will return to work for at least two years without wage reductions. Changes made affect only general mining rules and not pay.
Judge Strimple of the common pleas court ruled the Jones search and seizure liquor law constitutional. He affirmed a police decision fining an agent of a Milwaukee brewing company one hundred dollars after 20 cases of beer were seized from his wagon by village authorities.
In Wooster Ohio a thief entered the Pope home while the family attended church and stole jewelry valued at 700 dollars and 150 dollars in cash. He found 80 year old Mrs Kate Rider and locked her in the bathroom before rummaging through the house and fleeing. Nearby Rev Littell’s home was entered at about the same time and money taken. The robber escaped.
Wabash combined depot and hotel at Valley Junction Canal Dover O H burned with loss around 5600 including all railroad office records. The depot served Cleveland and Marietta and Cleveland Terminal and Valley roads. Occupants barely escaped and hotel lessee William Zimmerman lost 249 in cash plus furniture. No fire protection existed and firefighters couldn't save the building.
Mrs. Alice Cain of Cleves poured a bucket of inflammable liquid named sZaseline into a kettle on her stove after cleaning garments. The substance ignited causing an explosion. She was rescued by her daughter.
Former captain of Detective Williams in Toledo was discharged by the chief of police. He will have a hearing before the mayor after a failed bid to stir graft cases against the department.
Robbers entered the Crooksville postoffice and took cash amounting to 38 dollars, postage stamps, and some registered letters before attempting Stubbin's jewelry store. They fled the scene when frightened away and escaped.
Nelson Reynolds a 70 year old colored man died after a furnace explosion in the basement of the Walcott flats. The blast shook the building, shattered windows and toppled furniture as Reynolds succumbed en route to the hospital.
Van Wert Ohio stockade reports Ed Crone, an employee of Hepburn Bros livery barn, held on $500 bond for allegedly striking Policeman George Spahr as the officer pursued a man suspected of violating the Sunday saloon closing law.

Bucyrus molders walked out after Shunk Plow Co accepted work from Jeffreys Manufacturing of Columbus and Jones Manufacturing of Toledo, where strikes were underway, prompting the stoppage at the Shunk plant.
In Columbus Ohio Frank Miles of Taylor Station died after striking his head against iron supports of the Interurban bridge over Big Walnut creek east of the city. Edward Mack, also of Columbus, was likely fatally injured in the same incident.
Middletown Ohio resident Neanl and Denny Nichols along with James Rose of Hazel Green Kentucky are charged by Sam Clark with stealing bicycles. Clark says they rented three bicycles for six hours but fled to Indianapolis with the machines.
Mrs. W. Augustus Eberly, wife of a Wooster University janitor, died when a horse startled by an automobile threw both riders. The incident occurred as the horse bolted with Mrs. Eberly aboard.
Marysville Ohio probate records show Judge Thornton refused Mrs. Alice G. Payne widow of John G. Payne a petition to raise her estate allowance by $600 citing legal standards and the estate's current assets.
Hundreds witnessed a daring thief rob Brunner Bros display case on Euclid avenue and join a multi-block pursuit before he fled with about $2,000 in jewels. Police urged witnesses to contact authorities with tips.
Dr A D Ridcut of Ravenna died by hanging himself in his bedroom using a harness strap attached to a chandelier. His body was discovered several hours later by family members.
