In Rogansville Georgia a group of masked men seized a colored prisoner from Constable Moncrieff near Greenville on Saturday evening. They conducted a trial, sentenced him to death, and hanged him from a tree with a warning to passers-by not to disturb the body. On Friday the prisoner attacked Colonel Brooks’s young daughter on the public road but fled when approached by strangers.
In Ashland Pennsylvania this morning Lewis Paul killed Mrs Beckie Stringer a widow of ill repute at Rocktown by a pistol shot. Paul fled the scene and is at large.
Ottawa announces dissolution of the Dominion Parliament with new elections ordered. Nominations begin February 15 and polling occurs February 22, outlining the immediate timetable for the national vote.
In Matanzas Havana, a boiler explosion on the Mosquera estate killed five people and injured several others, authorities investigating the disaster and its causes as a local tragedy.
Herman Shope of Charleston West Virginia reached for a night drink, swallowed a marble by mistake, and it rolled down his throat. He felt scared initially but now says he feels better.

He suffered convulsions, hallucinations and imbecility, with spells recurring fortnightly since May, and pneumonia followed a cold. He set dissolution for today and doctors fight to save him.
Berlin dated Jan 14 Reichstag refused to pass the seventeen year army bill and was dissolved. Von Stauffenberg amendment to three years carried 186 to 154 with Conservatives Imperialists and National Liberals backing the minority. Prince Bismarck read an Imperial dissolution message.
In Cnicano on January 14 Miss Nina Clarke Van Zandt of this city will wed August Spies, former editor of the Arbeiter Zeitung now under death sentence for Haymarket conspiracy. Van Zandt, a chemist’s daughter, resides in a fine home and is heiress to an aunt in Pittsburgh valued between 300000 and 400000 dollars.
The Department of Agriculture reports 1886 crop results for corn, wheat, and oats. Corn yielded about 22 bushels per acre from 75 million acres, totaling 1.665 billion bushels with farm value roughly 610 million dollars. Wheat produced 457 million bushels from 37 million acres, value about 814 million dollars, at 68.7 cents per bushel. Oats yielded 26.4 bushels per acre from 23 million acres, 624 million bushels valued at 186 million dollars.
Washington reports Commander Day wired that the Mohican arrived at Vallpraise and retrieved a prehistoric stone image from Easter Island for the Smithsonian Institute. A German ship previously obtained one of these images. Smithsonian asked the Navy to pursue the effort when feasible. The Mohican’s commander was ordered a year prior to stop at Easter Island and attempt retrieval if possible.
A Kansas City company performing at Toono City Hall was attacked after a performance by rough crowds demanding refunds. Manager and actors were beaten. Adam Gorman sustained a severe chest wound and a likely fatal arm injury after a chase toward Marion House, with officers sheltering the troupe.
Jan 16 Curacao reports marriage license clerk Eugene Seeger will not issue a license to Miss Van Zandt to marry Spies. He cites a felony conviction as grounds for divorce and says a court might compel him, but he will resist without quo warranto proceedings.
John Ingert a Louisville tailor died this morning after a choking episode at his fiancée Miss Theresa Pfeffer s home. He had been visiting for some time and was engaged to be married soon. He collapsed while kissing her good night, swelled throat and suffocated despite medical aid. His betrothed stayed at his side until death.
Boston January 13 The Master Builders Convention completed plans to create a National Builders Association. A convention for the new body will be held in Chicago on March 29. The Boston Builders Association held a dinner at the Revere House with President Whitcomb presiding and delegates from New York Philadelphia Detroit Chicago Cincinnati St Paul Washington Baltimore and other major cities in attendance.
NORRISTOWN Pa January 15 The brain of John M Wilson hanged Thursday for murder of Anthony Dealey was examined at the Insane Hospital by Dr R H Chase and local physicians. It was found to be abnormally developed in parts and atrophied in others due to water on the brain. Doctors believe Wilson was not of sound mind.
New York Jan 16 Col W R Gilder traveling toward the Northland route via British forms reports from Y Factory Hudson Bay on Dec 15 that he will be detained there until after Christmas because the Indian guides refused to start before they had Christmas communion. He aims to reach Repulse Bay and join the Esquimaux. America.
In Boston on January 14 the body of Oliver Sleeper was exhumed at Mount Auburn for organ inspection by medical experts. This marks the seventh disinterment in the case, with arsenic found in prior victims, as investigators pursue possible poisoning by Mrs. Robinson to gain Sleeper's property. A North Yakima Washington Territory report says a Chinese laborer on the Northern Pacific project at Chellum, after quarreling with two countrymen, placed a giant powder charge between them and lit the fuse before fleeing. The explosion blew out a side of their shelter and injured the men.
In Detroit on January 13 a wall collapsed while workmen were removing debris from a burned building. About twenty feet of wall fell on two boys and a man. The man was badly crushed. The boys were thought dead at first but were revived. their recovery remains uncertain.
A Amsterdam based bank syndicate completed negotiations to acquire nearly 900 square miles of timber land in West Florida from the Florida Land and Mortgage Company Limited. The purchase is the state's largest since 1881 and aims to form a Land and Colonization Company, build a railroad, and colonize from Holland.
A schooner carrying one hundred thousand pounds of powder was driven ashore near the Cliff House San Francisco on January 16. After abandonment the cargo exploded when the ship struck rocks. The Cliff House was wrecked and life saving stations demolished. several crew members seriously injured but no fatalities.

In Lowville County on January 16 a typhoid patient, Kirk Howard a young grocery merchant, escaped from his nurse during delirium and drowned himself by leaping through a window into Frence Creek. The incident occurred in Erth Pennsylvania.
Cluverius was hanged at 1:30 PM for the murder of Lillian Madison in Richmond. He protested his innocence before death, after Governor Crump refused to intervene. Through his minister Dr Hutchin he said he bore no ill will as the end neared.
In Springfield on January 13, the Republican caucus nominated Charles B. Farwell on the second ballot to stand as successor to General John A. Logan. The Democratic caucus selected William R. Morrison as Farwell’s opponent in the race.
Harrisburg January 13. The death warrant for William Josiah McKeen, jailed in Mifflintown Juniata County, was signed by Governor Pattison. Execution is set for March 29.

Detroit dated report states engineer John B Hewett, injured in an April 1883 wreck on the Flint and Pere Marquette line near East Saginaw Michigan, received a jury verdict of twenty two thousand dollars on Wednesday night.
Detroit January 12 five prisoners Thomas Howard Edward Dowe George Richardson John O'Brien and Charles Snowden escaped from the county jail this afternoon after being held for burglary or larceny.
Norristown Pa Jan 13 John M Wilson was hanged in the jail yard at 1 59 pm for the murder of Anthony W Dealy. The crime was described as a most horrible butchery.
Rev John Patterson pastor of a Cambridge Wisconsin Presbyterian Church cut his throat with a razor near the Public Library on Grand avenue Milwaukee and lies in precarious condition at St Marys Hospital. He had mental aberration following a severe sunstroke last summer.

In Nicholasville Kentucky on January 16 Miss Emma F Horine who had been bedridden for months due to consumption fell from her bed and died shortly after. The accidental fall hastened her declining health.
An old lodging-house occupied by Chinese residents burned this morning in SaLem and three Chinamen who could not escape were burned to death. The tragedy occurred in January 1914.
Wm. J. McCurdy, at the saw mill of Robert Mc Kee in Blacktown, Pa., fell onto a running saw and sustained fatal injuries. He was badly cut up.
