Evansville Plane Crash Settlements Named for 11 Players
Out of court settlements totaling from $65,000 to $85,000 were reached for 11 families of University of Evansville basketball players killed in the December charter DC-3 crash. Attorney Lee S. Kreindler said the deals with Peter McBreen and Associates cover claims against the airline’s insurer, National Jet Service of Indiana, while challenging Indiana’s wrongful death cap of $10,000 without proof of willful negligence. Investigators cited imbalanced loading and unremoved exterior safety locks as crash causes, a finding disputed by company officials.
