Corryville Steam Fire Co No 19 and Northern Hook and Ladder Co No 4 announce a grand social at Buehler's Hall Corryville on Thursday evening May 9. Proceeds fund furnishing the new engine house. Ample arrangements promise a large attendance and apleasant time. Cassius Claxton a tobacco firm salesman died at work yesterday afternoon.

A fire at the corner of Chestnut and Lowell streets in Newport destroyed four buildings behind Livezey and Co.'s sawmill near the Licking river. The blaze spread rapidly with a strong wind as dozens mistook the noon alarm for the Angelus delaying arrival. Loss is about 8000 dollars with partial insurance. Kenton Fire Company aided Newport crews to prevent further spread.
