J Associated Press Paris reports a heavy German attack last night on the Verduy front near Hill and Avicourt wood. After severe shelling, French artillery replies disorganized the attack, and the Germans gained a footing at only a ten point along the first line.
London dispatch reports British forces gained three objective points on a two thousand yard front south and west of Oppy in the Arras sector. The victory comes as headquarters wire says the offensive advanced German forward positions along a broad front.
Athens June It is thought war has not been declared as the Greek government considers that a state of war exists since its advent to power yesterday.
