Utahn Flood Damages Over Million and Half in Valley

Heavy damage from the Price River dam break near Price Utah estimates property loss and railroad damage over a million and a half dollars. Coal mine traffic disrupted the Rio railroad, thousands of miners jobless until 15 to 30 miles of track are rebuilt. Three steel bridges and many highway bridges washed out. Residents of Castlegate Scofield and Helper spent the night along canyon rims. No loss of life reported.

Government Control Bill Extends to Iron and Steel

A Senate Agriculture sub committee approved amendments to extend government control to iron and steel and their products petroleum products farm implements sisal jute hemp bindings. The amendments exclude farmers and ranchers from controls on products raised on their land and prohibit food minister from setting individual rations or meals. Action on prohibition amendment was deferred. National Bank call issued for Wednesday.

French Troops Quell Riots in Athens

An Associated Press item from London dated June 26 reports French troops entered Athens to help maintain order after a demonstration by former premier Adrianis Gounariz. The government suspended constitutional guarantees as Venizelos arrived in Paris to form a new cabinet.

Greece May Join Allies In War Says Times

London June 26 The Times reports that once Parliament convenes Venizelos is likely to propose Greece join the allies. A rail of unrelated notes mentions M. D. O'Toole a steam shovel worker resigning from Jamation Service after six years and planning to Portland with his wife and son. Miss Mary Isabel Johnston departs tonight for the north and east to stay until September first.

New Mexico Lands Sold At Auction

Twenty three tracts totaling 36844 acres in southeastern Colfax county were sold at public auction by Land Erview for 256896 dollars, averaging 186.42 per acre. The land commissioner's sales extend to Mora San Miguel and Santa Fe counties. Denver reports flood disruption on Rio Grande railroad and a 15 day restoration estimate. Paris notes a French surprise attack near Hurtebize with early trench capture. Denver says local draft exemption boards match registration boards per governor.

President appoints exemption boards for New Mexico and states

Washington June 26 An announcement names local exemption boards in twenty four states to select candidates for the national army draft. The governing exemptions has not yet been issued. Work of selecting a conscript army may begin next week. Boards show the president followed army officer suggestions that city and county officials be used. States with complete boards include Utah Nevada Montana New Mexico Colorado and South Dakota.

Red Cross Funds Reach High Total

Red Cross subscriptions total 104 million dollars by noon and are expected to reach 110 million by night. In Phoenix Arizona on June 20 Governor Cill announces the reappointment of the same officials who served during registration for the Arizona exemption boards.
