The second American troop contingent landed this morning amid feverish cheers. Transport convoys passed submarines, and troops were moved to a nearby camp where Major General Siberts planned the next steps. Pershing expected tomorrow as harbor and streets fill with khaki troops and heavy supplies.

The senate agriculture committee voted seven to sight to seven to reject the subcommittee prohibition provisions and adopt the house provisions with a modification on vineous leverage. New provisions ban manufacture of all intoxicants including distilled spirits malt beverages and wines but allow the president to permit further wine manufacture at his discretion.

Clay County Ministers union proposes Kansas ministers work on state farms during August to aid harvest. Rev J Andton Davies states ministers will travel to farms from Monday through Saturday with one minister remaining in town. Wages go to church benevolent boards or the Red Cross society. If adopted statewide, 8000 workers would be added to harvest labor.
