Reminiscences of Lexington Village Notables and Diners
In Lexington, Col Henry I. Caughman, noted lawyer and Mexican War veteran, disputes the New York Code in court and is remembered alongside Granny Corley, village matriarch, who owned land and slaves with a generous spirit. The piece recalls local figures, the John Jacob Hole bakery, and social life during Sherman’s march, concluding with community updates and family notes.
