Eighteen Years for Manslaughter in Orangeburg
Carlos Corbett received an 18 year sentence in the state penitentiary from Judge I. W. Bowman after a manslaughter conviction for Julian Cooper's death. Corbett had previously been acquitted in the 1920 murder case of Bryan Salley, and an appeal to the supreme court will be pursued. Corbett is jailed in Orangeburg. his wife has returned to Hartsville. The Rast case, former Orangeburg educator charged with assaulting a girl pupil at East Middle school, will be called tomorrow.
