Pasture Gains Urged For Small Farmers In Georgetown

Georgetown Aug 25 Few farmers in the cotton belt grasp the value of good pasture for their small livestock. Specialists say only the unproductive land should be fenced for pasture, as proper pasture boosts profits. County Agent M M McCord aids farmers in establishing carpet grass and lespedeza with encouraging results on small seeded patches. On W L Newton’s farm a patch of 1.75 acres supported two milking cows, 28 hogs, and yielded four to five feet of pasture after late spring seeding, with hogs fed minimally and cows not fed grain.
