Miss Olive Ballard, a friend of Mrs. E B Rees from Diller, was knocked over this morning by a cow and badly sprained her back. She was helped to the house and a doctor summoned. she could not return home until yesterday.

Arrested on Serious Charge in Fairbury Case
Sheriff Case and Chief Ashenfelter arrested W. C. Bemis in Fairbury on a statutory offense charge. The victim is Bertha Hutzler, living northwest of Fairbury. Bemis, about 31, married, once dated Andy Diller’s daughter. The Hutzler girl disappeared from Hanover, Kansas, recently. Bemis’ home is listed as India, Kansas. He was jailed after confirming she was in Omaha, where officers found her. Bemis previously ran a merry go round at the A. O. U. W. picnic in Diller last year.

Burglaries Hit Local Lumber Grain and Hardware Offices
Burglaries occurred Tuesday night at J. T. Briggs lumber office A. L. Tinsman grain office and J. O. Blauser hardware store. Windows were broken at first two and a back door forced at Blauser. Items stolen included a shotgun revolvers knives and a gold watch worth 60 to 75 dollars. Bloodhounds failed to track the culprit as dogs worked Reynolds area. An item from Tristman grain was found near the Methodist church crossing Thursday morning. No further developments reported.

Amanda Elizabeth Carmichael died September 27 1904 after several weeks of illness at her home two miles west of town. Born April 26 1870 she married E Carmichael March 25 1888 and left eight children. Her memory endures as a devoted mother and wife with community sympathy at Prairie Home Cemetery service by Rev F G Kuauer.
