Mr and Mrs Loren Hale of Elba Colorado and their two youngest children arrived Sunday for a visit with her father Allen Col man. They drove a truck bringing spuds and cabbage raised by pump irrigation for which they found a ready sale. Loren reports a not very good crop year in his locality.

A railway notice warns that several coal cars will arrive soon on the track, with Colorado and Kansas shipments just unloaded from Bernice. The message predicts higher coal prices and urges immediate purchase, signed by Diller Elevator Co and manager L R Andrews.
Mrs. L. M. Cavett, local Red Cross representative, announces on hand outing flannel underwear and bay overalls for those in need. Those seeking aid may call at her home on any Monday and she will assist.
A light frost was reported in some nearby localities Tuesday night with no particular damage noted in the Diller vicinity.
Fred and Everett Clark and LaVern Pickard spent the weekend in Diller and left Sunday for Franklin to take on another painting job. Prof Swenk state university entomologist notes sowing wheat in Gage and other counties should wait until September.
Mrs. M. Callander and Mrs. S. M. Hughes had spent several days with relatives and friends in Lincoln and returned Friday to their homes in the city. Loock and daughter accompanied them driving up after them.
The government will stop buying pigs and pig sows under the federal curtailment program when business closes today, but packing plants will keep processing until all purchases are completed.
The J N C club met with Mrs Earl Harris on Wednesday for a pleasant afternoon of visiting and two contests. Prizes went to Mrs M C Bowen and Mrs A Hubka. Refreshments followed. An all day meeting is planned at Mrs Charley Hilder's on Oct 4 with each member to bring a covered dish.
Eddie Strader of the Collier Comedy Company visits Diller to promote Anlee Stock Company tickets for a weekly Wednesday show at the Diller opera house starting Oct 4. The program features vaudeville, singing, dancing, comedy, a big stage band, and the opening play Stepping Mammas.
Mrs J A Kirkpatrick and family joined sister Mrs E J Cattlett for Sunday dinner in Pawnee City. Roy Patton and family left for western state fields seeking work. A burial service for five year old William Logan was held in Beatrice with many relatives attending.
Dorcas class committee led by Mrs. Keith Hays hosted thirty five ladies and children in the church parlor. Fall flowers adorned the room as a Bible study contest crowned Mrs. Cavett the prize winner and Mrs. Best won a memory game. A relay race featured Miss Lucile Hanson and helpers the fleetest on foot.
