Autumn began midweek as farmers sow wheat. Edgar Henrichs exhibited Hampshire hogs at the county fair. Dr and Mrs Claude Ellis returned from a western trip as Gage county fair events run Sept 29 to Oct 2 and Pawnee County fair runs Oct 6 to 9.
Mr and Mrs J A Pickard of Madison visited Diller relatives Sunday as Wiemers Bros exhibited Chester White hogs at the Jefferson County Fair in Fairbury and won ribbons. A daughter was born Wednesday evening September 16 at a Beat Rice hospital to Clyde M Thober and his wife north of Diller, the first great grandchild of A Mayborn and wife of Diller.
The market denies rumors of a cash only policy and vows to continue business as before. It thanks patrons for their support and reiterates commitment to serving customers in the future.
A Fairbury fisher named Mr. E. S. Diller earns fame while fishing at the Blue River. Gene, resting with hook and line, suddenly reels in a ten pound carp without bait or rod. The tale frames a marvel of the waters as the river overpowers expectations.

Paint Now promotes Monarch 100 percent pure lead and zinc paint claiming first class appearance and long endurance. Warns cheap paint uses lithophone and adulterated oils and touts Monarch as pure linseed and gine free. Cornbelt Lumber Co in Diller Nebraska invites customers to inspect prices and products.
Harry Beckwith and others visited across Tuesday and Wednesday. Miss Margarite Velte of Auburn called on Diller friends Friday night. Hubert Filley Linn Kupper and John Harvey visited over the weekend. Orville Richardson brought home a Jefferson Co. fair ribbon. second premium in saddle horse show. M E church service next Sunday at 11 with Dist Supt A O Hinson. church council after. Diller folks attended county Sunday school convention at Fairbury Saturday led by Flossie Raymond and others.
Miss Schuman former superintendent of Jefferson county schools accepts role as instructor in the teachers college at the state university in Lincoln.
Miss Faye Gaisford is recovering well in a Beatrice hospital after an operation for appendicitis. She teaches in Dist 42 and C. E. Eugleman serves as director.
Chester Sparks received a telegram from his wife announcing the death of Lon Seaman at 8 30 o clock Tuesday evening at his Davenport home His wife is known here as Mrs Christie Thomson Funeral services are held today in Davenport.
Miss Marian Diller, a student at Peru, spent the weekend at the home of her father, J Smith Diller. She was accompanied by a classmate.
The Commercial Club now runs the Moving Picture show and invites local patronage for a year of trial. Success depends on attendance and boosting profits for charity. Next Friday night opens with a featured film, stores will close, and extra seating is arranged for a full house. S. C. Hutchinson urges all members to attend with families and support local entertainment. The Omaha Methodist conference appointed ministers to Beatrice and nearby districts, with several Diller clergy reassigned or yet to be supplied.
Dr. W C Logan of Carroll Nebraska who contracted anthrax while inspecting diseased cattle was reported improving and out of danger. Logan a former Diller resident graduated from Diller High School in 1913.
A two car crash two miles south of Ellis on Friday September 18 injures F A Rulla of Beatrice severely with a head and body injury and a broken rib. Paul Weiderman of Beatrice also suffers cuts and bruises along with his brother Ben Weiderman of Ellis. Rathburn of Ellis escapes unharmed. Weiderman’s car overturns three times, catches fire and burns.
The county fair begins a four day run with full departments and a strong showing from Diller schools. A lively program includes free acts and a crowded midway. Opening auto races drew a large crowd with five cars, planned pony and shell races and ongoing racing through Thursday amid some rain yesterday.
