The Jefferson County fair opens on Tuesday with extensive work completed at the fair grounds. A fine program of events and sports has been arranged and all signs point to the largest and best fair ever held in the county.
Five Diller students departed Sunday for Lincoln State University arriving Monday Eleanor Henrichs Lois Henrichs Ralph Beckwith Richard Mayborn and Eleanor Filley will pursue kindergarten primary study after two years teaching near Diller.

An 8 lb girl was born Tuesday September 15 to Mr and Mrs Ralph Seifford with Bernice Diller listed. Mrs Fred Clark is caring for mother and baby.

The Dorcas class of the M E church held a Kensington event in the church basement on Thursday afternoon September 11 with 50 plates served. Mrs Carrico won best artist for a Kensington display while Mrs Roy Geer and Mrs Theo Henrichs earned prizes for word making from Kensington. Refreshments were provided by Mrs dames Robertson Will Henrichs Harry Baker Herb Beckwith and Ralph Frisbie.

Montenegrin text details designer recognition for the Confederate flag on a marble tablet. Alabama Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy presented the memorial to the state. The flag design, created by Mrs. Napoleon Lockett’s descendant, was adopted by the Confederate Congress and raised in the capital on March 4, 1861.
A stork delivered the thirteenth child to Mr and Mrs Norman Peabody on the thirteenth day of the month in Wheeling West Virginia. The newborn is a boy.
London correspondent S Koldofsky reports from Moscow on food prices under Soviet rule. Milk costs 42 cents a pint, eggs 36 cents each, butter six dollars and twenty four cents per pound, oranges two dollars each. Chocolate coffee cocoa and lemon are scarce and controlled by bootleggers. tea is rationed to a quarter pound per week for workers with working cards.
