Some of the early sown wheat is coming up. Mrs. Carrie Wrigley has a new Chevrolet sedan. Mrs. Ralph Sandmann is having a tussle with summer flu. Carl Schmuelle and family are visiting relatives in Wisconsin. Dr. Paul Ludwick and wife with little Bobbie visited their parents in Diller last Sunday. Claus Jansen, residing two miles west and four south of Diller, is on the sick list this week.

Lanham Woman Dies After Long Residence

Mrs. Wm. Wieters, Sr., 67, died last night at Lanham where she had lived forty years. She was buried from the family home Tuesday afternoon in Lanham pennants. She leaves her husband and several grown children.

Mrs Peter Riner living 24 miles north and 3 west of Diller burned one arm Monday night with carbolic acid.

Nine Year Old Slashes Knee On Barbed Wire Fence

Lloyd Thrapp, nine, son of Mr and Mrs Ed Thrapp of near Steele City, suffered a three inch knee gash from a barbed wire fence on Monday. A B B Kensington group gathered with ten members and discussed the Jefferson county fair during an afternoon of visiting. The next meeting is set for Sept 25 with Mrs Harry Ahrends.

Diller residents view Gov. Al Smith on train arrival

Several from Diller went to Fairbury on Wednesday to see Democratic presidential candidate Gov. Al Smith. He was introduced by S. M Bailey and shook hands with many people from the rear platform of the train without delivering a speech.

New Methodist Minister Wm R Vete Expected in Diller

Sept A O Hinson reports Rev William R Vete and his daughter Marguerite will arrive in Diller late next week. Vete, 49, with 26 years in ministry and five charges, will hold morning and evening services on Sunday September 30.

Rand sues Milburn and Scott for damages in Beatrice

Thomas Rand files a $50 000 damage claim against Milburn and Scott Co in Beatrice alleging injury from a fall down two floors of a passenger elevator shaft inside the company building. He claims the hallway and elevator were unsafe and cites prior residence and employment context involving local businesses including Fanders garage and a telephone central operated by his wife.

Diller Home Service Ad Covers Barns Coal and Lumber Needs

The notice lists local improvements and offerings from Diller home services including barn building east of Diller, lumber sales, painting roofing and repairs. N R C Club Plans Picnic At Chataqua Park Beatrice

The N R C club met September 18 at Mrs. Arthur Wieths home with eight members four visitors and four children. They discussed finishing a quilt and planned a club picnic at Chataqua Park in Beatrice for next Sunday. A lunch was served and the group adjourned to meet October at Mrs. Richardson’s home.

Henry Frisbie Hurt Foot After Cow Poke Stab

Henry Frisbie stepped on a cow poke Tuesday and cut a bad gash in his foot. He was treated locally and advised rest and dressing changes. No further injuries reported.

Administrator seeks revival of Diller suit against Burlington

J W Diller as administrator of Samuel Diller’s estate moved in federal court for revival of the $50,000 damages suit filed Aug 7 against the Burlington. Diller, a longtime railroad employee and Wilber depot station agent, alleged insanitary depot conditions caused typhus and medical expenses of 2620 before his death three days after filing suit.
