The Junior Class presents the comedy My Mother In Law at the Diller Opera House at 8 p m on October 21. Art Armstrong pretends to be fatally hurt after shaving cream mishap in a laugh filled farce about living with his mother in law.
The Jefferson county corn husking contest occurs Saturday at Hughes farm 14 miles north of Steele City with a program at Steele City afterward. The Gage county husking contest is next Tuesday at Mathias farm just south of Ollis.
Dr. O. C. Diehl with Mr. and Mrs. John Greider visited Will Packer's farm near Wood River last Saturday evening. They hunted with Doc and John bagging two pheasants and one duck before returning Sunday night.
Senator Geo W Norris will be guest speaker at the Rural Electrification Dedication program to be held October 22 1938 in the auditorium at the state fair grounds in Lincoln. The program will start at one o clock Saturday afternoon.
F Hartzell, in failing health from creeping paralysis, was moved last Saturday to a Hastings Nebraska hospital for proper care. He has no immediate relatives.
A. J. Denney introduced Mr. T. Curtis to Diller voters this forenoon. Curtis, Republican candidate for Congress from the district, spoke from a car equipped with an amplifier to those on the street.
Mr and Mrs Theodore Henrichs enjoyed last week strawberries fresh from their own patch. Other residents in this vicinity are also picking strawberries from their overbearing variety.
Harry Beckwith, Mary Beckwith, Phyllis Jean Richardson, Betty Elaine Richardson, Ralph Meister of Humboldt joined Mrs. H. H. Beck in Diller on Sunday to help celebrate a birthday.
Mrs Raymond and her daughters Fiossie and Fern celebrate an enclosed porch. Work is being done by Mr and Mrs Deano Barber and Mr Caldwell at their home.
George Specht, operated on at an Omaha hospital last week for gall stones, is reported to be recovering nicely. One hundred stones were removed from the gall bladder.
Mrs Leonard Friebie and family enjoyed a visit from her parents over the weekend. Mr and Mrs Smith returned to their home at Campbell Nebraska Sunday evening.

County Judge E R Bee reports roasting ears from his own garden as the present crop was planted on the third of the month.
The annual Teachers Convention runs next Thursday and on October 27 28 at Lincoln with six district gatherings in Chadron M North Platte Norfolk Omaha and Lincoln The Lincoln faculty will attend the Lincoln event except Mr Ludington who goes to Omaha General sessions open mornings divisional meetings follow afternoons and social events fill evenings.
In this vicinity farmers began husking this week after unusually high temperatures. George Freitag shows the first sprained wrist from jumping to reach tall ears. The corn stands around eight feet high and shucks easily, though Freitag’s wrist was not injured by jumping.
Sam Thompson swapped a Ford pickup for a panel truck last week and fitted the body with soft pine seats for about twenty men. The ten mile open ride is uncomfortable in cold weather and worsened by storms.

The Daily Sun reports three sets of twins among sixteen students in a rural Beatrice area school. The twins sit in order: two girls about six, two boys a few years older, and a boy and girl around twelve. Their teacher is Kathryn Harris, daughter of Emmett Harris of Diller, who graduated from D. H. S. in 1984.
