Halloween Party For J C A C
The October meeting of the J C A C Jefferson County school teachers was held at the Congregational church in Diller with fifty four guests. A 6 30 dinner featured performances by high school students including Dorothy Pingle Verne Hubka and a junior girls sextette. Decorations centered on Halloween jack o lanterns and pumpkins. A program feature was a discussion on Christmas ideas for the classroom led by grade teachers. Superintendent Olson of Steele City is president.

Ill Lincoln resident S Park Koons gravely ill at sister’s home
S Park Koons lies near death at the Lincoln home of his sister Mrs Erva Koons Blair. He suffers from stomach cancer and is in serious condition. A once familiar Diller figure who moved to Washington DC twenty five years ago and later worked in government service, he arrived in Lincoln about three weeks ago and hopes to return to Diller to see old friends Mrs Raymond and Mrs Line among others.

Three Young Fans Ride to Lincoln for Nebraska Kansas Game

With no transport they hitched from Tony Zelling to Beatrice then to Lincoln arriving in a little over an hour. After the game they retraced the trip home by the same method.

Hot lunches spread to rural schools in Gage county
Most of the school boards in villages and rural districts in Gage county have voted to serve hot lunches to pupils the coming winter. Superintendent McCreight reports six Jefferson county schools already serving noon meals with Diller Reynolds and Plymouth among town schools and three other rural schools included.

Shooting Wild Foul Begins Today
Local hunters are in arms as the open season on ducks geese and pheasants starts today. Ducks and geese may be shot sunrise to four in the evening with limits of ten ducks per day or twenty in possession and three geese per day or six in possession. Pheasants run from November 5 to December 14 with limits of four roosters and one hen per day.Squirrels open October 1 to November 30 with shooting hours from 7 am to 6 pm.
