On October 20 at 2 15 p.m. hostesses Mrs O J Mayborn and Mrs F Horsky welcome guests. Leader Mrs Scott Miller presents This Freedom of Ours with music and colored slides of Hawaiian flora. Mrs Clara Allen notes the club is invited to visit the Jansen Women’s Club on October 26.
Mrs. Scott Miller was commissioned an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska by Governor Val Peterson for special trust and confidence in patriotism valor fidelity and abilities. She was among six Jefferson county women named to Who's Who in Nebraska in 1940.
We thank friends for acts of kindness during our loss. Grateful for cards, music, and flow offerings. Affectionately signed by Claude Dunn and family, H A Bell, WA Auil, Gemery family, and Waggoner family.
We express gratitude to all who remembered us with gifts cards flowers and letters and those who called while we were in the hospital. Mrs Dimir Champ Susan Mr and Mrs Vandere returned from a five day trip to Wyoming visiting relatives. Dr and Mrs Claude Ellier aided Mrs Whitworth to Lincoln then train to Los Angeles to join daughter Cecil Ellis. G Clifford Blauser of Diller Nebraska and Otto Spielman underwent medical procedures in Beatrice. Spielman was operated on Tuesday for appendicitis at Lutheran Hospital.
A birthday dinner was held at the Otto Spielman home Sunday to honor Mrs Henry Zimmermen. Guests included Mr and Mrs Henry Zimmerman of Wymore Mr and Mrs Donald Woodward of Beatrice Mr and Mrs Arnold Zimmerman and Dennis of Beatrice Mr and Mrs Andrew Sathoff of Marysville Kansas.
Miss Schu from Doane College spoke on China at the Sunday School hour detailing government, daily life, customs, and social scenes. She displayed Chinese articles and demonstrated chop sticks reading and handwriting while autographing items in her native script. Funeral notices follow.

Bert Alexander Bell born September 26 1877 in Diller Nebraska died October 8 1948 aged 71 years 12 days He married Addie May Barton February 12 1902 and had daughter Florence He lived in Diller his whole life active in local groups including Diller Cemetery Association Diller Farmers Grain Association and Partners Store He belonged to Woodmen of the World Survived by daughter Mrs Claude Daan of Greeley Colorado twin granddaughters Mrs Beulah Reed and Mrs dea Worden three sisters and two brothers Funeral services were held October 11 1948 at Waggoner Funeral Home with burial at Prairie Home Cemetery beside his wife.

N. football including Notre Dame in Lincoln on October 16, UCLA in Lincoln October 30, Kansas State in Lincoln November 6, Missouri in Lincoln November 20, and Oregon State in Portland on November 27. A family note recalls Grandma Roseman’s 80th birthday with forty relatives gathering for a noon cafeteria dinner and portraits.
Last Friday evening members of the Dilier American Legion and Auxiliary at their Legion hall competed for high scores with prizes awarded to Opal Glathir and Otte Spletman. Low scores earned Marilyn Miller and Eddie Behrende prizes. Barbecued beef sandwiches were served. Mr and Mrs Gerald Sendman and twin daughters of Denver visited Lon Snyder and relatives in Harbine and Jansen. On the return trip they stopped at Jeanie to visit their uncle Ralph Sandman.
Diller Lumber & Supply Co advertises rough fir boards 1x12 and 1x6 in gil length for under cribs or repairs. Mr and Mrs Robert Diller have purchased the Zoelin property in Steele City. Phillip Taddiken drove to Hastings Friday. Mrs Taddiken accompanied him home. Shuffleboard at Jacobs Cafes described as simple to learn and easy to play.
The calendar lists October dates for Masonic Lodge work in the F.C. Degree with refreshments, a Mission Study at 2 30 P M at Mrs Steffen, a Woman's Club meeting and a Maya bor y Club gathering at City Hall at 8 PM.
