E E Hill died at 6 15 Wednesday morning after a lingering illness. He had been an invalid for seventeen years and was homebound the last years. Funeral services are set for 2 30 Friday afternoon at his home with Rev Pyche in charge.
Mrs Albert Leaper experienced a slight stroke last Saturday while gathering eggs in the hen house. She fell, was moved to her bed and confined there. family reports she is expected to fully recover.
Notice to all community singers to meet at the Congregational church annex Tuesday evening to organize a Christmas cantata. If unable to attend but willing to help, contact Alice Specht before the meeting.
The Fairbury Fall Festival runs all day starting at 10 with a big parade at 1 30 featuring most Jefferson County schools. The festival program continues throughout Friday.

A Wisconsin clipping reports eight students from Lady Smith High School, including Weldon Henrichs, attended judging contests on September 1, 1987. More than 1800 competitors from 159 schools entered fat stock, dairy cattle, poultry and eggs, potato, apple judging, and dairy product categories.
Roe Sparks arrived home for a visit after twelve weeks of duty at the U S Navy Training Station San Diego California He was chosen as the outstanding man in his company for the week ending October 1 1937 for his diligence and ability to profit from instruction His parents Mr and Mrs Chester Roe received notice and congratulations from Commander J W Gates superior at the San Diego station
Jefferson County boys and girls along with their parents can attend a free two hour talking picture about 4 H Club activities next month. The event will be shown November 26 at Fairbury in the afternoon and Harbine in the evening. An attendance contest offers a $1000 cash prize to the county with the highest attendance percentage, plus 24 other prizes. Cash awards fund County Club work.
In Nebraska Francis Clark Glenn Long Harry Allen Herman Stab and John Rahman were summoned by Lincoln officials to appear in Fairbury on Wednesday afternoon to discuss matractions and schooling in cream testing. Plans completed for the purchase of baby beef calves in the sandhills. Orders for 15 or 20 calves received. Calves must start on feed within six weeks to finish for early marketing. Harbine Stockmen led by Wm. G. Sandman reorganized for another year with new members. Calves purchased during the week of October 18th. filers must contact Wm. Sandman or the Farm Bureau office before October 18.
