The Chick Boyes Players return for another season visiting Diller every two weeks with merchant tickets supporting the tour. The current cast, familiar from last winter and the Lincoln summer run, opens Tuesday evening October 12 with The Third Degree and vaudeville acts, per the Bowes advertisement.
Mrs R L Oaks Diller died at 9 20 Wednesday evening after a general collapse twenty four hours earlier. She had long cared for her invalid husband Mr Oaks who has needed constant care for years. Funeral arrangements were not announced as the Record went to press.

The 10th annual Jefferson County corn husking contest will be held at Steele City on Saturday October 23 starting at 10:00 AM. The A Colman farm field, one half mile south of town, hosts the event sponsored by the K P lodge with sports and entertainment in the afternoon and prizes up to $10. Ten contestants will compete per Nebraska Farmer rules. George Patterson handles registrations.
The park match drew a large crowd as Jansen and Odell each won one game in the Kitten Ball tournament. Odell defeated Jansen to force a 1 1 tie and the Jansen girls defeated the Odell girls in steady form. Fans hope for a deciding third game.
Delbert Stotts of Lincoln and his eldest daughter Marie Hopkins of Ames visited the town this forenoon renewing old acquaintances. It is fifteen years since Marie Stotts visited Diller. Marie Hopkins was once a compositor here for a year and later served on the Ames University faculty before marriage.
Rev. C. C. Winter, longtime preacher at the First Baptist church in Beatrice, left last Wednesday for Belden Nebraska to fill the Methodist pulpit for the coming year, as reported by the Daily Sun.
Mrs. Ben Siebelt has faced a serious infection and was confined to a Beatrice hospital until Wednesday when she was moved to her mother Mrs. Jobman’s home in Beatrice.

Mrs Florence Steffen and Mrs Dora Miller traveled to Omaha Tuesday as delegates to the Nebraska Federation of Woman's Clubs convention in session October 5 to 7. Mr Steffen drove them to Lincoln to catch a bus, and they expect to return later in the week.
The funeral of Nelson McDowell and Charles O. Hansen, longtime Fairbury residents, was held in Fairbury last Friday. Both men died when their car collided with a Union Pacific motor car at the 4th Street crossing on Monday September 27.
