Information reached the office through James F. Willer of Beatrice about the death last week of Charles Hansen in Lawrence Kansas. Hansen and Willer were known as painters who lived in Dilner for several years during a period when five modern homes were built.

A deed transfers Deeds Farm one third interest in the 160 acre Weigel farm south of town from Bruce H. Weigel and his wife to his brothers Ear J. Weigel and William L. Weigel. The transfer is recorded as re pacted by J. Monroe Davis and on.

Bob Green and Dale Garrels, Doane College freshmen, came Saturday from Crete to spend the weekend with their families. Robert Green is taking Chemistry English German and Mathematics this semester. Dale Garrels studies Chemistry English German Mathematics and Physical Training.
Nebraska football guard Eldon McIlravy sustained a skull fracture in the Minnesota game at Lincoln and is reported recovering, though he recalls nothing of the clash. He believes he played after reviewing team photos shown by the coach.
J L London went to Lynch hospital for treatment the first of the week. Lew has been unwell for some time and overly ambitious for his condition. At his workplace the Tuesday crowd noted he was improving since colleagues could manage him again.
Ira Stout, Ellis longtime rural mail carrier for 18 years, will retire November 1. His route will be served out of Beat Rice. The Stout family has moved to Beatrice to make their future home.
Dr and Mrs Rice of Qdell attended the Travelogue by T J Dredia at City Hall last Wednesday evening. Mr Dredia is Mrs Rice’s brother.
Miss Grant and Russell Mc Creight were off duty this week at the school house. Grant missed due to a severe cold while Mc Creight was away visiting.
Eward Eugene Hill born September 25 1875 near on Illinois was the oldest child of A J and Catherine Beall Hill. He moved to Diller with his family at age nine and farmed south of town before moving to Diller after illness. He married Vernon Dowling on December 24 1903 and had twin daughters who died in infancy. He died early Wednesday morning at 62 after a long illness. Survived by wife Vernon D Hill and several siblings. Funeral at residence 2:30 pm with Rev Pyche officiating. Interment Prairie Home cemetery Diller. Distances noted attendees from Beatrice Washington Kans Conrail Blatts Lincoln Hansen Idaho Beatrice.
Mrs. Anna Best of Omaha toured Diller seeking proof of birth for a social security questionnaire. Formerly Anna Grotts, daughter of early settler Joseph Grotts, she was placed in a Lincoln home for the friendless about 46 years ago after her mother died. Her brother and sister moved to Oklahoma. she recalled schoolmates in Diller and asked the Record editor who could not locate old files from 1887. A note mentions fatal statistics were not kept that long ago.
Miss Marjorie Vanier of Fairbury became the bride of Mr. Harry Friesen of Fairbury in a wedding at the Gladstone Church on October 10. Attendants included Mr. and Mrs Scott Miller and family, Mr. and Mrs Willis Clark and Carolyn Rose and Max Logan. The couple will reside in Jansen.
World famous stunt performer Captain Sanders will headline a Beatrice fairgrounds program next Sunday Oct 24 with auto races and daredevil stunts. A stock car race open to entrants, a head on collision act, and dangers like crashing through fences and windows are planned. Rain improved track conditions and a capacity crowd are anticipated, with 2:00 PM start and passes honored from the prior week.

James H. Cook, owner of the Bruce McCreight farm southwest of Shea, will conduct a public sale at his property next Wednesday. A list of items to be sold appears in another column of this paper.
Fairbury held its First Fall Festival with a damp day but a large crowd. A soap box derby saw six winners awarded 1 to 5 dollars, and a children's parade featured pets ponies decorated bicycles and doll buggies. The grand parade had 75 units from 64 schools. Prizes ranged up to 10 dollars. Amanda Achtemeier and Elda Krebs were notable winners.
Miss Elsie Franzen left Diller on Tuesday for Omaha to visit relatives then Fort Wayne Indiana to visit the family of her oldest sister Mrs D L Aden. Both sisters share a November birthday and planned a vacation from Clark's store to celebrate together.
