Warwick China stands out with the new Ioga and Warwick patterns in the north window. A wedding or birthday gift choice, it’s highlighted as among the most beautiful displays in the city.
A collage of short items from Jefferson county includes a Nov. 14 county commission meeting announcement, corn prices and harvest prospects, railway lighting plans, dental nitrous oxide safety, local travels and health, a tale of a single man renting a Diller residence, and various brief society and business snippets. Notables include Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Grape, John Mathias purchasing a corn shelter, Attorney W. H. Barnes and Sheriff Case in Fairbury, and Dr Fritz of Wymore touting gas for dental procedures.
Fairbury Times notes the September 1 1905 county poor farm report by supervisor W F Downey showing 4361 total property value on hand. Inmates and maintenance costs are itemized with cattle hogs horses and crops listed and butter sales recorded.
An antebellum style notice claims Bucklen’s Arnica Salve cures all surface cancers and includes a testimonial from Jas Walters of Duffield Virginia about a lip cancer that healed. It adds a 25 cent claim for the salve at Spear Drug Co and itemized county board witness fees totaling 60.10 dollars in the State vs Charles Crooks case.
The Diller area road routes should be repaired by the supervisors to ease winter deliveries. Also cited are tallies from the Modern Woodmen of America showing strong gains in members and insurance, while a Practical Farmer note questions ginseng cultivation and its declining value due to Chinese demand.
