Church Meet Draws Large Crowd

The Lincoln Association of Congregational churches held a two day meeting at Diller with pastors and delegates from Ashland Wahoo Weeping Water Syracuse Salem David City Linwood Liberty Aves Cortland and Lincoln plus visitors from Omaha and Exeter. Rev Ralph Abraham of South Africa served as guest speaker and a forum on women in the Program of Progress was led by Mrs J P Palmer. Dr E Merle Adams and Rev R A Dawson gave addresses while the local choir and Mrs De Cully provided music. Abundant provisions were arranged by church ladies for attendees.

Chevrolet Dealers Hear Pre Showing Of 1940 Series

Virgil Geer reports over 1000 Chevrolet dealers and salesmen attended a pre showing of the 1940 passenger cars at Ak Sar Ben coliseum Omaha Nebraska. W V Shell of Saint Louis and C C Shell Omaha led the event. Geer says the 1940 series exceeded expectations and will be on display at dealers on Saturday October 14.

Obituary of Clifton Eugene Campbell

Clifton Eugene Campbell died at his home near Mound City Kansas on September 30 aged about 81. He formerly lived near Harbine Nebraska. Burial was in Fairbury Cemetery.

Masquerade Party Honors New Girl Reserve Members

A Thursday evening masquerade at the school music room welcomed about thirty five girls joining the Girl Reserve. Prizes went to Mrs. Ludington and Miss Pool for returning with required articles. Jean Maw won best disguise as a pirate. Refreshments included cocoa with marshmallows and cookies.

Fred Carpenter 77 dies in Fairbury hospital

Fred Carpenter a 77 year old longtime Fairbury resident and merchant died at a Fairbury hospital last Saturday after a fall that broke his hip on September 14. He had been ill since the accident. Funeral services were held Monday.
