A Thursday night blaze in Odell destroyed two barns four automobiles including Dr Pickett's 1913 T Model Ford roadster. The fire started in Frank Benda's barn and spread to nearby structures. The Doctor recalls the car served twenty two years and paid for itself early on.
John Steiner received a message from his sister Clara Allen saying she arrived in San Francisco from Honolulu and would head to Diller on November 16. He stayed busy preparing for company, bought a truckload of apples in Falls City for guests, and hopes his sister will stay a long time.
Francis Clark attended a Beatrice dinner with his son Lawrence and Max Johnson as Rotary organizers reveal a Junior Rotary club. Beatrice Rotarians seek two high school boys from eight to ten towns to join for leadership training. selection rests with the High School faculty.
A brilliant electrical storm rose from the north west Sunday evening at this place while worshipers prayed. Rain fell heavily for a few minutes and then stopped. The storm affected electric lights for some time afterward, typical when a storm travels from this place to Blue Hill, Kansas, the source of our current.
Rupert Andrews reports purchasing over ten thousand bushels of wheat as grain hits the dollar mark. He notes local wheat stocks remain ample and likely held for the quarter. If League of Nations policy against Italy proves effective, the quarter mark may not occur.

The Texas Centennial Exposition will open next June with a $200000 landscaping plan featuring state emblems. Nebraska will showcase the Goldenrod in its section, while Centennial Park plans include over one hundred native Texas trees and shrubs.

Mr and Mrs Ben Hall and their son moved to the Grace Meyers property from Dawson Nebraska bringing two truckloads of household goods. Hall oversees the O A Cooper Company elevator here and is an experienced grain dealer. The Cooper property has been reconditioned with oak floors wallpaper and galvanized exterior.
Ak-Sar-Ben officials announce a special one cent per mile rail fare for all rails valid on two show days during the Ak-Sar-Ben Live Stock Show week from October 27 to November 2. Nebraska Day October 31 will feature Governor Roy Cochran with cent fare from Nebraska points within 300 miles of Omaha.

Sara Diekman nee Miller died October 4 1935 at 75 years 1 month 10 days after a paralytic stroke. Born in Germany she married Harm Diekman in 1884 and emigrated to the United States in 1890, settling near Diller. Survived by husband three sons and four daughters 17 grandchildren and three step sisters in Germany. services held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, buried Prairie Home Cemetery.
Rev. Merle Edison Fish of Pico Heights Christian church invites 265 couples married by him to a bride and groom night at the church tomorrow at 7 30 p m marking the eighth observance. Only 10 of the couples have not found satisfactory marriage lives and 104 children have been born to those he united. The pastor will discuss Does Marriage Pay and will officiate at the wedding of James W Gray and Marie Constantino.
Mr and Mrs Toplek of Lincoln drove to Diller on Thursday evening. The husband returned the same night, while Mrs Toplek remained to visit her parents Mr and Mrs Roy Diller and other relatives. Mrs Toplek was formerly Eima Diller.
Miss Pearl Sparks and four District 74 seventh graders toured Lincoln on Saturday. They arrived 8:15 AM and visited the penitentiary Capitol Junior High School State Farm Antelope Park Rock Garden and the museum. After a western film they enjoyed a picnic at Mrs. Joe Blair's home and viewed Pioneers Park before returning at 8:30 PM.
Dr J A Burford chairs a Nebraska commission created by the last legislature to census feeble minded residents not in institutions. The lists will aid county judges and marriage clerks to enforce a sterilization rule and prevent marriages.
A replica of the McCanles well from Rock Creek station is placed in the courthouse square by W. G. Freeman and CCC workers. They will pull in rocks and build a well for locks with four drinking fountains and a north rock approach.
