JEWELL COAL. Henry Jess under a doctor's care. Mr and Mrs Frank Viers of Superior spent the weekend with Dr and Mrs Viers. Mr and Mrs Willis Clark and Carolynn Rose were Sunday dinner guests at Mrs Jennie Line's country home. Martin Diekman of Burlington Colo visiting Harm and Mrs Diekman and other Diller relatives. Wm Jarchow republican candidate for representative meeting voters in this county corner. Mr and Mrs A Mayborn and L Rayborn of Beatrice and Mrs Clyde Tober of Ellis returned from a 6000 mile western auto trip. Ralph Beckwith returned to Carleton after visiting his parents. he is employed in a bakery. John D Wiener Lincoln traveling salesman seriously injured in an auto collision near Diller and improving in a Lincoln hospital. He was treated in Diller then taken to Lincoln.
Mr and Mrs C N Sparks hosted a Friday dinner on October 3 honoring Mrs J Podrosnik of Chicago IM Mrs J Phelps and Mr and Mrs B C Reed of Racine Wisconsin Also present were Mrs W J Steer and Mr B P Phelps of Aneen Neb mother and grandfather of Mrs Sparks
The P. H. club gathered at Laura Angell's home on September 26 for a pleasant afternoon of visiting and preparations for the hostess. Dainty refreshments were served, and Ina Hill invited the group to meet again Friday afternoon October 16.
John Hargis of Beatrice visited Chas. Brandt last week. Mrs. E R Henrichs and Mrs. E S Diller of Fairbury called on Diller relatives. Rev and Mrs Harris of Beaver City stayed with Dr and Mrs S B Viers Sunday. Ladies of the M. E. church plan a doughnut sale at Waggoner Bros Store Saturday afternoon and evening October 11 with Mrs Cavett and Mrs Viers.
Sunday evening two Ford cars driven by John Folkers Jr. and Albert Bures collided south of Diller. Six people were injured with a range from minor bruises to severe head and limb injuries. The Bures car carried Mr and Mrs Bures and baby. the Folkers car carried Mr and Mrs Folkers. Both cars were severely damaged. The Pearces planned a trip from Tuesday to Colorado and expected to return in about a week.
Mrs Florence Henrichs and Perry W Bugbee married in Washington Kansas on October 1 1930 and have moved to a ranch eight miles east of Oshkosh Nebraska. Miss Pearl Thompson a clerk at Cully's grocery store returned from Lincoln after visiting her brother Wayne Thompson and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Frank Cully and her brother-in-law Harley Moffit spent the weekend in Lincoln with his family. They visited relatives while Mu riel is a freshman and Clarice a senior in the local university. Mr. Moffit plans to remain in Lincoln after selling his farm.
A Filley group led by Mr and Mrs Archie Peterson and others visited the Fanders home last Sunday. Mrs Grone and Mr Grone returned from a trip visiting Yankton South Dakota and towns in Minnesota and Iowa. Crops were reported good in parts of the regions toured.

Mr and Mrs Henry Arntt Sr and Hattie with son Roger and C Arntt and family returned late last week from a motor trip to Big Springs and Brule Nebraska where they had been visiting relatives.
Amos Bush of Zillah Washington died at home on September 24 from heart disease. Funeral held September 27 at Zillah Christian Church with burial in Zillah Cemetery. Born February 25 1856 in Tarkio Missouri he married Fannie Chambers September 29 1881. Survived by widow seven children Roy R. Outlook Washington Lloyd H. Fresno California Russell H. Los Angeles California Wilbur M. Salem Oregon Mrs Henry Gilliland Mrs Julius Chenaur of Zillah and Mrs Earl Swanberg Seattle Washington. Bush lived in Diller Nebraska before moving to Washington in 1899.
The Keystone Kensington of the Congregational church met at Ser Batee’s country home with guests Howard Jeffries Odell Longmer Will Hendricks Green and others. The class voted to raise the budget from 50 to 100 dollars and a quilt was sold to Scott Miller. A Halloween party was planned for Leonard Frisbie and families with flowers for illness cases and plans for a fall supper discussed.
