Public School Aims to Train Boys and Girls for Citizenship

The public school has been founded with the aim of training boys and girls for useful citizenship. Everyone should have an interest in school children beyond giving them an up-to-date educational system.

No frost yet in the area. A H Colman visited from Fairbury on Tuesday. Squirrel hunting season opened October 1. Adam Gretzinger from Steele City area conducted business in Diller Monday. Dr Hepperlin head of Beatrice medical clinic receiving treatment in Omaha hospital. Reed Mills and Mr and Mrs Wood from Lincoln visited Chester Sparks at his home this week.

Mrs Hadley Party Visits Diller Area

Mrs Lizzie Hadley and daughters Marian Martha and Eunice of Beatrice visited Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Elias Hadley. Miss Vera Holloway of Wyomore is keeping house for Ab Bristol. Vera is daughter of Mr and Mrs Ab Holloway, former residents of Diller. The personal effects of Mrs Martha Gear will be sold at public sale at her late residence in Diller tomorrow afternoon Oct 4 at 2 o clock. See bills for particulars.

Carpenter family heads west to help harvest crop

Eldred Carpenter and his family left Wednesday in their car for Hemmingsford Nebraska to assist his brother with the potato harvest. They stored their household goods in Hartzel's building and planned to tour the western part of the state before returning, remaining away indefinitely.

Klauser requests Record relocation to Huron South Dakota

A letter from C Rock Klauser asks that his copy of the Record be moved to Huron South Dakota where they recently relocated in Lincoln. Clare says they expect to like the new home with good roads and crops. The town size resembles Beat Rice and hosts a packing house and poultry plant.

Mrs Rosa Bugbee Dies After Short Illness in Rock Creek

Mrs Rosa Bugbee wife of Dana Bugbee died Friday afternoon at their home near the Methodist church in Rock Creek precinct after a brief illness. Burial took place Monday at Steele City cemetery from Presley church with the pastor officiating. She is survived by her husband three sisters and one brother and six children three sons and three daughters all but one son attended the funeral. The family formerly lived near Steele City and later in the Diller area.

On Friday evening September 26 Mahlon Wolken hosted a party at his home for Emma with a surprise. F. E. Wolken won high score in rock, nine visitors joined thirty four members, and a lunch followed as guests hoped for more such gatherings.

Farewell Gatherings for Rev Velte and Family at Diller

The Ladies of the Methodist church hosted a social evening in honor of Rev Velte and his family as he leaves Diller for Auburn Nebraska. A fried chicken supper, games, and social chatting followed his farewell sermon to a large audience. The Diller school teachers were warmly welcomed and even the Congregational pastor joined briefly. Boy Scouts held their last canyon outing with Rev Velte and the boys received a gift poem of appreciation.

Womans Club hosts music school convention at Fairbury

The Co convention met at Fairbury on Sept 18 with a full program morning and afternoon. Mrs Dora ... district agent led the morning session and Mr Oberlies from Lincoln led the afternoon. A fine Baptist supper followed. Two pipe organ numbers delighted attendees. New officers were elected led by President Mrs Carpenter from Plymouth.
