Miss Letha Mayborn and Mr Vernon Roll married at Beatrice last Sunday. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs L Mayborn, taught in the area for two years and will begin new work after resigning from Frisbie district. Miss Ruth Stahl will start next week.
Mrs. Barbara Kiskalt of Steele City died Monday. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Fillinger officiating. Interment followed in Steele City Cemetery beside her late husband, who died March 1 this year, with Wagoner Brothers funeral directors.
Thos. P. Price of Tucson, Mrs. E. L. Loock of Ogalalla, Nebraska, J. Monroe Davis of Fairbury subscribed to the Record at its first issue November 18 1887. Names grow through 1888, with several original subscribers having passed away during four years of ownership.
Diller High School conduct ed season opener at the HS gym with two games. The alumnae beat the first HS team 2 to 16, and the faculty defeated the second HS team in the second game.
Neil Diller and his young daughter made a quick trip to Diller last week arriving Saturday and departing for Chicago Sunday evening. Neil notes a real low mood in Chicago.
Due to limited space at Clark's Store, flowers are moved to Mrs Richardson's residence for sale. Interested buyers may call for arrangements and take advantage of special Christmas prices.
The Record says items were missed due to an early print run this week. Office staff rushed in part to take Thanksgiving Day free for social reasons, causing omissions.
Rev Pyche came home from Fairbury last Saturday. His daughters from West Point and Lincoln came and brought him over. Rev Pyche is reported to be improving.

Retain Offices Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hiatt were re elected to County Commander and County Auxiliary President roles for another year at the Gage County American Legion meeting. The event in Beatrice’s American Legion Hall on Wednesday evening November 17 drew Jefferson County legionnaires and their wives. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Miller accompanied the Hiatt as guests.
A letter from Anton Vasak of Wilber as project superintendent for Norris Rural Public Power District says J. M. Carmody REA administrator approved the construction contract and ordered Chapin Company to start lines toward Diller immediately. It urges wiring now and warns about improper wiring.
County Superintendent Genevieve Clark states that the office has readings and other program numbers for teachers to use in Christmas programs. The material was compiled by Miss Alice Specht of Diller, employed on the Adult Education WPA Project directed by Mrs. Dora Sehainost of Gilead.

Johnny Cook of Ellis suffers an abscessed finger infection caused by a splinter and receiving medical treatment.
Mrs. Furrow writes to share the death of Wallace Furrow 17 at Hawthorn Nevada Naval Depot Hospital on November 11 after a brief appendicitis illness. Funeral services were held November 17 at a Reno chapel with interment in Mountain View Cemetery. Survived by his mother Marvin sister Elva May Wanna Fay Furrow and uncle Glenn Calkins.
Falls City remembers Mrs. Hetty Kreker as she reaches one hundred years old last Thursday. She lives with son Walter Kreker and wife and is the eldest of ten children. Kreker says she has kept all faculties and enjoys helping around the house. She notes she was often sick as a girl and still wears her wedding ring after 80 years.
Last Friday six o'clock dinner was hosted at Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bell. Attending were Ms Harriet Barton, Mr and Mrs Kay Hudson, Mr and Mrs L D Calkins, Mr and Mrs Wm Barton and family, Mr and Mrs Leonard Frisbie and family, Mr and Mrs C M Windsor and Mr and Mrs Barton Windsor and family. The Windsors departed Saturday for Missouri to visit relatives for Thanksgiving before returning to Minneapolis.
Washington dateline reports Senator Norris suffered an illness that changed his view of pipe smoking. He says he has been a lifelong pipe smoker and drew solace and courage from it, but now cannot look at a pipe without abhorrence. He remains able and willing to challenge the trusts to a finish.

George T. Eick born Jan 19 1841 near Middlebush New Jersey died Nov 18 1937 at home near Diller Nebraska aged 96 9 29. He moved from Illinois to Iowa then to Wymore and finally to a farm near Diller where he lived fifty five years. He helped build the Presbyterian Church later joined the Congregational Church and served as an elder. A service was held at his daughter's home and at the Congregational church with Rev C F Wagner officiating. Interment was Prairie Home Cemetery. He was survived by four children five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
