Pioneer Resident W. T. Ward Returns for Funeral
The remains of W. T. Ward, longtime Elm township resident in Gage county, formerly of Diller, Nebraska, arrived on Burlington train No. 17 with his widow and stepson. His body was met by his son-in-law and daughter and prepared by Weggoner Bros. for burial in Prairie Home cemetery. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Congregational church with Rev. W. E. Ludwick of Lincoln officiating.

Library Fire Recounts 1636 Books With 97 Lent
The record shows 1636 books in the library at the time of the fire, of which 97 were loaned. About 50 books were removed and badly damaged. The Book Committee plans new book orders while the library opens for circulation Saturday afternoon November 21. The old Jefferson county courthouse building was moved to Fairbury city park, preserved by local business leaders to show progress and development.

Chimney Rock Park preserves Fremont and Carson rock carving
Quivira Park near Diller seven miles west on Rock Creek is a four acre Jefferson county site. Daughters of the American Revolution and the Fairbury Rotary Club helped by others cleaned the area. The rock with carved names is fenced for preservation and access paths and picnic tables were added. Signs prohibit hunting, shooting and open fires except in a stone fireplace.

Armistice Day Observed By Mrs Eick Club
Mrs Ray Eick hosted a local club meeting on Thursday afternoon November 5 at her country home. Special guest Willis Clark recalled pleasant associations from former membership while Frank Eick joined as guest. Mrs Carico led the business segment and prize winners Henrichs and Carico received contests as nut baskets in patriotic colors complemented lunch served by the hostess and her mother.
