Tax collectors in Jefferson County report a 1923 personal tax total of about 596000 dollars turned to County Treasurer E L Jenkins. Banks and railways owed about 45000 in uncollected taxes with partial distress warrants issued for 6700. About 1300 remained uncollected from those who sold out or left after assessment.
