Couple Hosts Aid After Severe Acute Indigestion

Keith Waggoner traveled with J J Randall a Western Cartridge salesman to Grand Island for a weekend visit returning to Fairbury Sunday. Randall joined the Waggoners for a visit and they attended a target shoot at the local Gun Club during the stay.

Lumber Yard Manager J. T. Briggs Dies at 71

Former Diller resident and lumber dealer J. T. Briggs died at age 71 on Sunday after a life in the trade. He moved from Diller to Liberty Nebraska where he managed a lumber yard for twelve years before retiring eight months ago and moving to Pawnee City. He is survived by his widow five daughters and one son. Burial was at Oneida.

Colliers Comedians Draw Large Crowd in Opera House

The Colliers Comedians attracted a large audience Wednesday night at the opera house with the play Thieving Bankers and the specialty acts pleasing all. Next Wednesday the troupe presents Family Troubles as their final show of the season in Diller before beginning a summer tour in a tent starting at Beatrice, their home.

Decoration Day Exercises Set For May 30 At Diller Opera House

Decoration Day events will start Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Diller opera house with a program for all to attend. Afterward, processions will go to Prairie Home cemetery where a brief address will follow and soldiers’ graves will be covered with flowers. People with flowers should leave them at city hall. evergreen wreaths will be made there Saturday afternoon. The county board’s gravel decision on the P W F highway from the county line east to the Cornhusker highway was not reported by press time. Local residents criticize long dirt-road trips to Beatrice, Lincoln or Omaha and urge graveling the link between highways 3 and 68 via Diller, seeking Beatrice Chamber of Commerce support.

Cattle Struck by Lightning. Two Lost at Pearly Place

During Saturday night storm two cows on property at Pearly Place were killed by lightning. John Folkers also lost one cow in the same event. Both families stood under a tree and were not near a fence when struck. Neither owner carried cattle insurance.

Bethel Henrichs and John C Tipton Wed in Fairbury

Miss Bethel Faye Henrichs and Mr. John C Tipton were married at the Presbyterian church in Fairbury by Rev. Schuppe at noon on Saturday May 20. After the ceremony the couple joined by Miss Helen Bower and Arthur Mann returned to the bride’s home for a luncheon. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo Henrichs, is a former Diller public school graduate and taught two years. Tipton, son of Mrs. J F Tipton of Wood River, Neb., plans farming south of Fairbury.

N R C Meeting At Mrs Frisbie Home

The N R C met at Mrs. Ralph Frisbie's home with twelve members four visitors and six children present. Afternoon activities included rock with high score by Mrs. Will Amos, second by Mrs. Arthur Kunecke and consolation by Mrs. Leonard Frisbie. The Dorcas class of the M E church met May 18 in the church basement for a business meeting followed by a social hour. A Seed puzzle contest divided ladies into groups of four with winners named.
