Unusual piano duo at Congregational Church highlights evening

The Congregational Church hosted a fine piano duo Miss Mildred Mayborn and Miss Mary Eby of Lincoln last Sunday. Missionary Society elected new officers Mrs Harry Thompson president Mrs George Riddle vice president and Mrs Willis Clark secretary-treasurer. A Missionary Tea is planned in the annex Friday in June with Mrs Scott Miller in charge. A Lincoln guest could not keep June 4 appointment but a later date may be set. Services and a special program are planned for next Sunday evening.

Anton Saathoff farm sells at sheriff sale for mortgage payoff

The Anton Saathoff farm of 830 acres located five and a half miles south and one mile west of Diller was sold at sheriff's sale to foreclose a mortgage for $13,628.00 to H. H. Meyer of Wymore. The farm will be worked next year by his son in law John Saathoff, who is farming near Breman this year.

Two Planets Jupiter and Mars Near Each Other This Week

Stargazers can watch Jupiter and Mars approach each other through Sunday night. The pair will appear within an apparent foot of each other, then recede, visible on clear nights in the Leo constellation a little south and west of overhead.

J N C Club Meeting At Mrs Bowen Home

Decoration Day at Diller Impressive local ceremony

Decoration day exercises at Diller featured an improvised but splendid program in the opera house with the Diller band saxophone trios a ladies quartet and congregational singing followed by Rev Helms address. Flowers were laid at Prairie Home cemetery by a committee and children amid fine weather after a drizzly past.

Mr and Mrs R F Starr were at home early this week for Decoration day events. He went to Kearney Nebraska on a business trip for a Lincoln based eastern insurance firm, accompanied by Mrs Starr. Starr notes western Nebraska has seen unusually high rainfall this season and forecasts good prospects there.
