Fifty Years Ago Frosts Eclipse and Community News
A light frost spared crops as a total solar eclipse was scheduled for May 28 at 6 48 a m to 8 55 a m. Belvidere church events included a district convention and a Methodist conference vote against gambling. Memorial Day plans by Nickajack Post featured a sermon by Rev Clutter and a procession to Prairie Home Cemetery. Local schools, graduates, and theater events plus various visits and births are noted, with eclipse viewing on May 23 and a community free show outdoors in Diller.
