Special FFA Award Honors Stanley Hays At Pioneer Chapter Meet
Stanley Hays son of Mr and Mrs Ross Haye received a special FFA award at the annual Pioneer chapter meeting held May 10 at Beatrice High School. Over 100 parents and guests attended as year’s activities were reviewed and awards made. Stapley’s award recognized the outstanding freshman for scholarship leadership and farm practices. Funk’s G hybrid seed corn for sale by Frank Cully includes 80 and 94 grade in flat kernels. The Little Beefers 4 H Beef Club met at Fairbury Park for a picnic with leader George Regnier observing his birthday. A project tour is planned for Sunday May 23.

Carol Beatty qualified for the state meet held last Friday in Lincoln and earned a first place tie in the high jump at 6 ft 92 in while also tying for third and fourth in pole vault at 10 ft 11 in Two weeks prior he had qualified in Crete. Neighborly Neighbors Club met with Mrs Frank Gone and soil conservation topics were announced by State Superintendent Wayne Reed.

Memorial Dev Farmers Store closing and Beatrice outing planned
Memorial Day observance will close Farmers Store and Jordeninge Store at noon Monday May 81. Garden club members and families plan a Sunday trip to Beatrice visiting Winnie's Gardens with a picnic in the park. Many events mark the school term end including convocation awards and graduation exercises.
