D. H. S. Softball Team Wins Pioneer Conference Tourney

The D H S softball team defeated Reynolds 22 12 to win the Pioneer Conference Tournament at Plymouth Wednesday. They earlier beat Daykin and Plymouth to reach the final, repeating last year’s tournament victory. Two longtime subscribers visited the office this week: W A Snyder since January 1896 and Mrs J O Blauser since October 1890.

Papers Drop From Plane Damage Plymouth Home

A package from the Beatrice Daily Sun mail accidentally dropped from a plane damaged the Ruhi home in Plymouth. The storm of glass struck Mrs. Rahl who slept in a bed. she was shaken but uninjured. The incident occurred as papers destined for DeWitt slipped from the aircraft.

Diller High School Spring Events Highlight Play and Services

The Senior Class stages the comedy Selma Goes Psychic at the Diller Opera House Saturday at 8. Baccalaureate is May 16 at 8 in the Methodist Church with Rev. Esther Young on Priming the Pomp. Examinations for underclassmen are next Tuesday and Wednesday. The 63rd annual commence­ment will be May 20 at 8:30 in the Diller Ants House. St. Pauls Ladies Aid met with 20 members. bath fixtures for the parsonage were funded and the group planned an outdoor June meeting in the park. Local notes also mention the Burlington line trains restored forthwith after a coal strike, and visits by Verne Hubka and others, with Fairbury College graduation details and proceeds at Jacobs Cafe.

Ahrends Nominated for Appointment to AAF

Stanley W. Ahrends son of Mr and Mrs Harry Ahrends has received a presidential nomination as second lieutenant to the regular Air Force. His appointment becomes effective when he reaches age 21. He is a student at the University of Nebraska.
