Marilyn Miller will headline the Doane College production State of the Union at St James Hall Crete May 7 with Gloria Miller in a minor role. The 1948 three act political satire is in motion alongside film showings in Omaha and Lincoln. Hearing Date For Removal Of Night Trains Postponed
The hearing on the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad Company request to discontinue trains 14 and 15 between Table Rock and McCook Nebraska was moved from May 6 to June 4 at 10 am in Superior Municipal Auditorium. An oral hearing May 5 considered temporary restoration pending the June 14 decision. outcome was not yet known.

Elm' Livestock Masters Meet At Lawrence Richardson Home
The Elm' 4 H Livestock Masters held a meeting at Lawrence Richardson's home on May 2 with all but two members present. Plans for the June 4 program at Diller city hall include speaker Phil Sutton and a Weiner roast. Funeral services were held for Bill Warren in Wood River, and Mrs. Warren was formerly Mrs. J G Packer. A dinner honored Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Finch and son at Clare Waggoner home. The Finch family plans to move to a farm near Lawrence Kansas.

The seniors spent April 28 in Lincoln visiting the Museum and the Agriculture College, attended a Polka Road broadcast at KFAB, and joined a covered dish lunch at Pioneer Park. A Y-teens food sale raised about 17 dollars Saturday. Junior and Diller school activities and upcoming events include a Junior-Senior Banquet on May 8, softball at Plymouth, and performances and commencements through May 20. Clerks changed at Farmers Store with Glen Long and Mrs. Bert Weaver leaving and Shirley Walther starting.

Diller High Team Competes in Crete Meets
Diller High School track squad competed at the Doane College Invitational in Crete with about 400 runners. Carol Beatty tied for second in high jump and pole vault and earlier won high jump and pole vault at the State District meet. 20 athletes qualify for state. Glen Long Elected Mayor in Town Board Meeting
Glen Long was elected Mayor at Tuesday’s town board meeting for a one year term. Outgoing Mayor Huttenmeyer declined another term. Clifford Elstser was reappointed clerk. Poppies Sell Out On Poppy Day Campaign

Henry Fielder of Ellis Dies at 82
Henry Fielder 82 of Ellis died Sunday in Beatrice Lutheran hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Ellis church with Rev. Father Young officiating. Burial followed in Diller cemetery. Waggoner funeral home had charge of arrangements.
