Perry Bugbee fights tonsillitis while Mr and Mrs C B Ashcraft spent last Friday with friends in Beatrice. Rev Velter and daughter drove to Syracuse on Monday for a two day ministerial conference.
Mr and Mrs Donald Tincher and Billie of Wymore spent the weekend at the home of her pets Mr and Mrs H A Ell Legacy notes indicate a family visit to the area with local acquaintances referenced as pet owners.
An 8 pound baby boy was born on Tuesday May 6 to Mr and Mrs Geo Banahan and Rose Malady. The couple reside four miles north and fourteen east of Steele City.
Mrs Geo Ball and two daughters Peggy Jean and Georgie returned Sunday from Atchison Kansas where they had visited relatives.
Donna Lea Bugbee daughter of Mr and Mrs Donald Bugbee fell on a step last Friday cutting her lip badly enough to need medical attention.
Mrs A O Richardseon is expected home today from a Heat rice hospital where she had undergone a serious operation. She seems to be gaining in a most satisfactory manner.
Mr and Mrs Fred Witty and Dean visited Saturday and Sunday with his mother Mrs Sarah Witty and sister Mrs R W Green and family at Wleits Kansas.

Mrs. E. S. Diller of Fairbury spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. W. N. Sparks who has been very poorly for four or five weeks.

Walter Brock a Fairbury boy drowned Saturday while swimming with schoolmates. His body had not been recovered at last reports as volunteers continued searching.
Noah Handley, who reaffirmed his allegiance to the Steele City newspaper last Friday, has been a continuous subscriber to the Diller Record for thirty one years. He also subscribes to three county papers and a state newspaper and various farm publications. He notes his need for the News.-Steele City News.

Mrs Ross Hill of the Ellis neighborhood was struck by a paralytic stroke a few days ago and taken to a Beatrice hospital for treatment. At last reports her condition had not improved significantly.
Gerhard Hoeting, longtime resident near Ed Yolken three miles west of Gladstone along the Golden Highway, visited town Monday and renewed his subscription for another year to the Record.
Rain in Colorado brings renewal for F. E. Hale of Brush, formerly manager of the Diller Farmers Grain Co. Now operating Brush Credit Assn. He reports heavy rainfall, wet February, and freezing thawing that affected winter wheat. Hale says all well and busy.
About forty guests, mostly relatives, gathered Thursday evening May 1 to celebrate Harry Ahrends thirty second birthday. The event featured a social gathering followed by refreshments including two kinds of ice cream and two kinds of cake served by the hostess.
The newly elected village board met on Thursday May 1st electing John Clauson mayor C F Waggoner city clerk and H H Green treasurer. They appointed a board of health with John Clauson as chairman Dr O C Diehl and the City Marshall. other committee appointments and bids for water commissioner street commissioner and city marshal were postponed to a future meeting.
Announcement of the marriage between Miss Lillian Wiemers of Lincoln and Willard F Gostelow of Ottawa Illinois. The ceremony took place in Omaha Nebraska on April 18. Miss Wiemers is the former assistant advertising manager of the Nebraska Educational Journal and daughter of Scede Wiemers of Diller. Gostelow is a Nebraska University junior and Alpha Theta Cis member who has studied at Illinois and Alabama state universities. They plan to reside in Lincoln.
J Hiatt a longtime resident of the Diller vicinity died last Friday night at his Beatrice home at age 70 He was born in 1859 at Sidney Iowa and homesteaded land on the Otoe Indian reservation in 1877 He married Adelaide Upson in 1881 and they had ten children nine surviving He lived in Odell and Beatrice engaging in farming stock shipping real estate and was active in Masonic Eastern Star and Modern Woodmen lodges His funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in Beatrice with the Diller Masonic lodge in charge Burial followed in Beatrice cemetery.
