Fat cattle left Saturday on a 31 hour run to Chicago. consignors included Frank Cully James Hays Fred Hauver and others. additional cattle hogs and mixed loads went to South Omaha Kansas City St Joe and Omaha. The shipments mark a sizable sum of money circulating locally.

Local residents report travel and home changes in town

J N C Club Meeting With Mrs Hays Apr 23
The J N C club met with Mrs. Newton Hays on Wednesday April 23 with eleven members and two visitors Mrs H Lubken and Miss Ida Lubken. Mrs H Lubken joined the club during the meeting. Mrs M C Bowen read a poem about a joke on a member dedicated to Mrs James Hays and Mrs Clarence Hiatt. Refreshments with Easter bunnies followed and the club planned to meet with Mrs Guy Clancy in two weeks.

William Lohman of Diller area owns a registered Holstein that led last month’s Herd Improvement Association with 1,767 pounds of milk and 77.8 pounds of fat on a 4.4 test. Lohman’s purebreds led the small herd class with 1,327 pounds in production and 48.7 pounds fat. Large herd leaders were Peter Claasen’s grade Holsteins averaging 1,035 pounds milk and 388 fat. The association tested 314 cows with average 780 pounds milk and 31.2 fat. official tester John Beall will file an annual report. Beatrice Sun.
