Local notes and births in Harbine and Fairbury

One week left of school before Mother’s Day. A girl was born April 24 to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hubka in Fairbury. A baby girl was born April 18, 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. George H. Furry of Fairbury. Plans call for a new $10,000 school house at Harbine. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Gretzing er of near Steele City visited billers on Friday. John Clauson and sister Minnie toured the Jefferson County Park at Endicott last Sunday. Graduation week events for Diller High School are listed in the Record.

County Board approves rock creek site purchase for monument

Jeffer son county allocates funds from the general fund to buy a 2.20 acre Rock Creek site near Endicott for a monument marking Kit Carson and Col. John C Fremont's 1842 Nebraska crossing. A three member advisory committee will assist the county board, with Quivera chapter of the DAR as park custodian. The 8.07 acre NE parcel was also acquired for 400 dollars from J B McCreight.

The ladies quartet of the Diller Ovational church Mrs Mary Cully first soprano Mrs Lizzie Tristman second soprano Mrs Effie Clark first alto and Mrs Eva Green second alto presented a full vocal program at the morning service in the Presbyterian church at Steele City Sunday Miss Flossie Raymond accompanied on piano and they were lavishly entertained at dinner in the church basement by the choir during the noon hour
