Cattle Trader and Local Visits Reported in Nearby Towns

Hiram Packer delivered two carloads of cattle to the St. Joseph market on Wednesday. Miss Josie Lutz, Diller schools music and English teacher, spent the weekend with family in Auburn. Mrs. Emma Fry recovers from illness with housework help from Mrs. Cora Colman, as families spend winter near Harbine and Wayne with kin.

Fairbury Buyer Shifts to Grand Island in Stock Venture

Walter Carpenter, known as the Fairbury horse buyer, will move to Grand Island after taking an interest in the Grand Island Live Stock Commission Company. Fairbury post office moves from first to second class on July 1 due to declining business, with salary cuts for the postmaster and assistant.

Mrs Herman Peters was summoned to Fairbury for her father in law Chas Kasparek who is very ill as both her and his wife are down with illness in town.

Wayne Carpenter Injured When Bull Throws Rider Near Diller

Wayne Carpenter, 6 miles north and 1 mile west of Diller, is confined with two broken ribs after a bull attacked the horse he rode, throwing both. He has other injuries but is recovering. County officials approve extending highway 68 along the St Joseph and Grand Island railroad approach, needing land from the railroad right of way near Fairbury, to cross highway 15 south of Fairbury. The Fairbury News expects this to be in the 1982 state aid roads program.

Liquor Found in Strawstack. Deputy Seizes Keg

Deputy Sheriff C B Clarke answered a farmer’s call near Jansen and retrieved a ten gallon keg of liquor from a strawstack on the farm. The liquor was poured out in the presence of County Judge E R Bee.

Diller Names for City Parks Suggested by Local Club

The village of Diller considers naming three parks from the Hall location, the east side park near the water works, and the east-of-block-two park near Commercial Ave. The Diller Woman's Club is urged to propose distinctive names for each park and a motion to adopt was discussed with a call for a second.
