Superintendent Sinkey visited fifteen rural schools last week and invited them to Educational Day at Diller. Fourteen signified attendance with a full day of events from 9:15 Rural Schools Program to 2:45 Rural school athletic contests. If cold, events shift to the gym.
Ben Hall resigns from the O. A. Cooper Co. effective June 1 to become manager of Farmer's Union Co op Association of Fairfield Nebraska at a higher salary. He has previously worked with them six or seven years.
Gladys Lottman a sophomore at Peru State Teacher's College contributes two poems Life and Ive Wondered to the Phi Alpha chapter Sigma Tau Delta national honorary English fraternity publication Sifting Sands.
The Village Council held a Monday reelection reorganization meeting and kept the existing leadership with John Steiner as chairman, Charles Waggoner as clerk, and Hod Green as treasurer.

The school Activities Program at the Gym drew a crowd Tuesday night. The high school band performed pep numbers before a program of skits and musical numbers. Students offered lively acts that entertained attendees despite a date error in last week’s Record.
Mr and Mrs Chas Gaisford traveled from Bellville Kansas to visit Charleys in Garnet Kansas and plan to lay a larger brick project there after a day with Vester Carmichael and his wife.

Marilyn Miller appeared in a solo tap dance on the Steele City Literary program last Saturday evening. This was her second invitation ever and she was accompanied at the piano by Cleo.

Dr and Mrs Claude Ellis return from western Kansas reporting optimism about recovery from dust storms. They describe wheat fields 28 inches tall on April's last day, summer fallowed and seeded with Peacock machinery, with Dempster Co gear widely used. They note rainfall and ingenuity can restore productivity. locals like Louie Lohr Theodore and Wm Ziebig are expanding wheat areas while Ellis has no wheat on his land.
Mr and Mrs Ray Mudge hosted a large gathering at their Beatrice area country home last Sunday with guests from Kansas City Rock Island and several Nebraska towns. Attendees brought baskets of food and the meal was served cafeteria style.

Mrs George Freitag collected eggs from her White Leghorn flock when she found a very large egg among the daily layins. The egg measured 64 by 8 inches and stood out as unusually big for a small Leghorn.
Ed Hughes Chester Scharman and Hubert Manning were seen visiting around the Diller area last Saturday evening.
Rev L J Wolff conducts marriage in Harbine with 120 guests present. Bride Miss Leona Roseman wears lace gown, bouquet of pink white carnations and lavender sweet peas. Attendants include Leona Roseman maid of honor and Edna Sturm bridesmaid. Reception for family at bride’s parents home features a yellow white decor and three tier cake baked by the bridegroom’s sisters. Attendees from Lincoln Beatrice Alexandria Lewiston Englevale and Diller listed.
Will Bowers of the battleship Case writes to his mother from San Diego dated April 29 describing seven weeks of maneuvers and returning ashore. He notes plans to take over gunnery school duties for officers and that the ship will be in port every night this summer. He mentions seeing Keith Johnson and a boy from Fairbury in Honolulu.
