Community updates list illnesses and visitors in Falls City Lincoln travel and family visits. Wheat fields are cheerful and a lightning strike at the Geo Specht residence caused attic damage and bricks to scatter. no injuries reported. Insurance will cover about 100 dollars in damages.
Ads urge residents to shop at county seat stores and keep money at home when goods are unavailable in Diller stores. The Record reiterates its support for Diller first and encourages supporting local merchants.
The Dorcas Class Kensington of the Methodist S S marked April 9 in memory of their president Mrs Chas Hays who has moved to Beatrice. Two contests entertained guests including a picture gallery. A luncheon followed served by committee members Frank Grabber John Carico Isaac Saylor Roy Patton Keith Hays.
Mildred Mayborn, organist at United Presbyterian Church and student of Edith B. Ross, presented a bachelor of fine arts graduation recital Wednesday night at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Her six numbers displayed strong coordination of keys and stops and expressive tone shading with notable brilliance in The Bells of St. Beaupre.
Local note reports bricks being burned at the Fairchilds plant near Endicott. Visitors from Fairbury include Mr. and Mrs. Elias Hadley and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Amos who came Saturday. Will Packer and daughter-in-law of Wood River Nebraska visited relatives Sunday. Everett Blauser of Powell and his parents J. O. Blauser hosted Sunday guests.
Mr and Mrs Lingren of Benninong Kansas visited here Tuesday with their niece Mrs Lotta Farrow and family. They are former residents of Rock Creek precinct. Miss Mildred Mayborn Richard Mayhorn and Werdell Fanders have spent spring vacation with their parents and returned to Lincoln to resume studies at the state university.
Mrs. Mary Green entertained for her son Wilbur Green’s birthday with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Green and son from Superior, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Green and family, Mr. and Mrs. Will Green and daughter, Mrs. Geo Ball, Chas Green, Wear Green, Harold Bristol and the Ab Bristol children. Winter storms brought 1.10 inches of rain turning to snow, with large flakes, ice forming at night, likely damaging fruit.
The community mourns with Mr and Mrs Clarence Rent after their sixteen month old son drowns in water tanks near their home 34 miles south of Diller. Despite rescue efforts the child died. Burial followed on Sunday with services at home and at St Pauls Lutheran. sixty five cars escorted the funeral to Prairie Home cemetery.
The bible department of the Fairbury Woman's club led by Mrs. C Calloway presented Jeph tha's Daughter a biblical drama at the Congregational church. A heavy rain shortened attendance yet a fairly full crowd saw an eighteen member cast perform. The production preached a sermon on vows to God and Jephtha and his daughter. Afterward the ladies served a two course supper.
Today is Educational Day and will be observed at the school house with a short program in the auditorium by each of the various schools in the Diller vicinity beginning at 10 o'clock. An address by a secured speaker and a basket dinner at noon follow with races and prizes in the afternoon.
Glen Lee Renz son of Mr and Mrs Clarence Renz born December 12 1929 baptized December 25 1929 at home died April 17 1931 age 1 year 4 months 5 days mourners include Sareesiptert Faith and many relatives friends. The verse speaks of heavenly reward and joy for the child now dwells in light.
