Navy Man Drowns in Pacific During World War II

Dean Ellison 25 a quartermaster first class on the U S S was drowned somewhere in the Pacific on Sunday March 18 a telegram to his brother says He enlisted March 14 1942 trained in San Diego and at Texas A&M College later serving on a ship and in the Atlantic before transfer to the Pacific He was born near Diller Nebraska and reared on a farm He married Virginia Justice in October 1944 Survived by his wife of McMinnville Oregon a brother Lester of Diller and three sisters Ina Mrs Caries Wasserman both of Portland and Wilma Rosl Oak Creek Colorado His mother had passed away since he entered service.

The Preston Milling Industries of Fairbury will run a 24 hour operation for 30 days to fill a government contract for 500000 pounds of flour for export. Preston said the flour is likely for relief in European countries and will primarily use local wheat. He shared stories of his seaplane service in the Pacific. Mrs Roy Casper and children left Wednesday for Lincoln to visit her parents Mr and Mrs Roy Patton.
