Mrs. L. M. Cavett leads church notices with evening Sunday School to begin at 10 A. M. and weekly services announced by the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Local church updates include St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran near Beatrice installing new officers and hosting English and Holy Communion services with a free will offering. Congregational Church reports Sunday school, sermons, a missionary meeting, and social events. Also noted are weather effects, local visits, the Dempster Mill Mfg. founder’s death, a birthday supper, and earthquake safety reports from relatives in California.

Johns Folkers Sr underwent surgery at Odei hospital on Tuesday. Jefferson county tax intake for February magalene amounting to 1814.89 dollars. Mrs Warren Stewart and children visiting Verdon Nebraska with relatives. Leonard Richardson and children joining Paul Repz for Sunday dinner. George Ball moved to a new house east of the Steiner school. Diller school board members J Smith Diller and L M Cavett. Mrs John Redmond and daughter in law visiting Sophie Mathias. Postponed sale of Suede Wiemers personal property and Wiemers Bros hog sale set for next Monday at 1 o clock.
Francis Plager starts a bat tire and tube business at his father John Plager's home on the P W Feast of town per ad in this issue of the Record.
A grocer explains that a single sack of potatoes contains a rapid growth variety. The top potatoes are smaller while later ones grow much larger, reaching about twice the size of the first dug. The uneven development occurs as the harvest progresses within the same crop.
Betty La Rhue Bick, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Bick, celebrated her first birthday on March 22. Grandparents Bick and Moser attended with Bettys mother and father as guests. Three birthday cakes with one candle each adorned the table, including Bettys miniature cake trimmed with pink roses. Well wishes were sent for many more celebrations.
John Greider of Diller is among twenty jurors drawn in federal court at Lincoln. They were ordered to report Thursday, March 3. Mrs. Clarence Hiatt sent the office copies of Los Angeles papers with earthquake damage write ups and illustrations from her sister in Anaheim, confirming their safety.
Special introductory offers include a 50 cent can of carbo Septic salve with each large size purchase and a one pound can of McConnon's baking powder with large vanilla extract. Lloyd Hurst, McConnon dealer, invites calls at 145-08. Eileen Green reelected to district 58 for a third term. Mrs Oake Fratzen resumes household duties after a three week siege of illness. Mrs Ray Cassell injured washing. dropped a dishpan of nine quarts water, scalding feet and legs, likely nonambulatory for some time.
Frank Fasnacht was struck on the end of the thumb by a steel sliver from a hammer head while welding yesterday. Dr C C Diehl successfully removed the sliver and treated the injury.
Cornbelt Lumber Co advertises varnishes paint and enamel with a quart price of 79c and spar varnish at 60c. Diller Nebraska listing C L Geer manager. Phone 15302.
Mr and Mrs A J Ellison of near Steele City were surprised by about sixty neighbors on March 11 to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. John Kyle of Endicott, a brother in law, attended. wedding took place in Pawnee City. Buffet supper, cards and games followed. Family members present except one daughter Mrs Wasserman of Odell. Guests offered gifts and extended best wishes for many more years of marriage.
On March 14 the J N C met at Mrs Newt Hays home for business and a contest titled Musical Romance with Mrs James Hays winning. The afternoon was social and lunch was served by Mrs Hays assisted by Mrs Keith Hays and Mrs James Hays. Members were invited to meet again March 29.
