Corn Planted Late Has A Chance
Weather kept farmers from planting and Nebraska tests show no single best date. Over 12 years, intermediate dates performed about the same as early or late plantings. In 1925–33 early plantings sometimes led, 1922–28 late plantings rarely did, and 1929–38 late plantings often yielded higher but not consistently. Delays increase immaturity losses and lower grain quality.
