Mr and Mrs Schindler intend to leave Diller after Decoration Day exercises for Falls City to stay at Mr Schindler's parents farm and visit Mrs Schindler's mother in Omaha. He will attend summer school at the University of Nebraska and may camp in a house trailer during the break with a possible Black Hills trip later.
The vanishing hostess teas progress with many entertaining beyond planned four guests. Mrs Close Mrs Cavett Mrs Francis Clark and Mrs Scott Miller hosted on Tuesday afternoon while Miss Mionie Clauson Mrs Romish and Miss Gretchen Wohlfarth hosted on Wednesday, gradually growing the fund.
Grading on the new road north of town has been minimal for over two weeks due to heavy rains. Detours one mile east and west toward the PWF are deteriorating, with only the southern road into Diller usable. A stranger arrived, calling it a bear cat, over the fill south of the bridge.
Dr and Mrs Claude Ailis return Sunday from western Kansas where they own land. They report county rains and farmers busy planting corn and barley. Wheat was destroyed by dust storms and the doctor believes stories of dirt storms are largely true.

Holdrege Nebraska confirms Miss Marjorie Lyle a University School of Music graduate will teach music in the Omaha school system next year. She previously taught at Diller and Alma High School and is skilled in pipe organ violin cornet piano and voice.
The personnel of the high school faculty has been completed. Names include W. A. Schindler Superintendent Lloyd Sinkey Principal Mildred Mares Norm Training B. Marie Hanson Music and English M. Jean Smith Mathematics and grades Russell McCreight and Flossie Raymond will return for further work. The vacancy in the 3rd and 4th grades has not been filled.
We thank all who planned and helped make our Silver Wedding Anniversary happy with flowers decorations foods and silver gifts. We are sorry Mr and Mrs Louis Wehling could not be present due to Mrs Wehling illness. Mr and Mrs Soke Wehling.
A two week vacation church school runs in Diller starting Monday June 10. Eligible children range from beginners through 9th grade. A tuition fee applies and church notes invite interested families to seek further information.

The Firemen’s benefit dance aims to support the band uniform fund. Weather disrupted three consecutive Wednesdays but a city hall social dance drew a crowd. The Band Benefit Dance is planned for next week if no further delays occur.
The fortieth annual commencement of Diller Public Schools was held last Friday at the opera house with a full audience. Rev. Drew gave the invocation, followed by an orchestral overture and student addresses including salutatory by Gene Andrews and valedictory by Miss Rachel Diller. Diplomas and honors were awarded by Dr. S. B. Viers and Supt. Schindler, with McProud of Nebraska Wesleyan University delivering the address.
The Woman's Club met with Mrs. Fouts on May 22. At the close of the meeting new officers were installed: Mrs. Scott Miller president, Mrs. Ralph Long vice president, Mrs. Grace Fasnacht secretary, Mrs. Sarah Warman treasurer. Mrs. Thompson led with lessons from women of the Bible. Mrs. Mayborn reviewed women of the Old and New Testaments. Roll call noted.
In Jefferson County farmers backed wheat production adjustment, voting 557 for and 301 against continuation, a near two to one margin, amid weather and road conditions affecting turnout. County tally details by precinct follow.
