Flower Show Winners From Fairbury Woman's Club Event

Several local entries won at the Flower Show sponsored by the Fairbury Woman's Club on May 21 and 22 held at the Peoples Natural Gas Co office in Fairbury. Mrs Theo Henrichs took second in dark blue and purple Iris, third in pink Iris, third in Hermocallis, and earned additional firsts for a yellow arrangement, miniature arrangement, table centerpiece, and wildflower arrangement. Mrs John Huttenmeyer won first and second in bicolor Iris, second in Hermocallis, second in Iris arrangement, second in perennial arrangement, and first in rose arrangement.

Richard Blauser Among Top Six Eighth Graders

Richard Blauser, son of Mr and Mrs Glen Blauser, was named among the six with highest grades at the Jefferson County eighth grade promotion exercises held May 24 at the Fairbury High School auditorium. He recently won a Lincoln trip for being in the top 2 percent state test performers. the Fairbury Kiwanis sponsored the trip for 28 Jefferson County eighth graders.

Local weather reports 1% rainfall last Sunday and daytime temps from 60 to 70. Multiple residents receive hospital care or recover at Odell and Mennonite hospitals including Batty Rozall, Flossie Raymond, Margaret Sasse, Lonnie Meyer, Dennis Barber, Allen Ray Folkers, and Katherine Uphoff. Farmers Store changes in management under the Benyshek family with remodeling planned. Farmers Union Co op Store history noted. Vacation Bible School begins June 8 at Congregational church with teachers named and enrollment encouraged. 77th Birthday Observed Amid Park Dedication and Local News

A large local gathering included Diller attendees and a winning pitcher Milt Ruyle. Births and Club Luncheon Notice in McCook Community

Births include a girl Susan Lee born May 22 to Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Fanders of McCook and a May 19 boy at Odell Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nippert. The local club hosted a mother and daughter luncheon at the Congregational church annex with 69 attendees and a program directed by Mrs. Glen Long and Mrs. Ri Hubka, plus readings, singing, and candle lighting led by Audrey Hays and Elva Schultz. Corsages were handed to retiring officers. The club will resume meetings in September.

Farmers Store Sold and Community Notice

After stockholders and board review The Farmers Store has been sold to Bengshek and family who take possession May 29. All charge accounts are due to close the books. Engagement announced between Dorothy Pingel and Wilmer Doerksen with wedding planned June 20 at Hope Evangelical church Harbine. Local social notices and sales appear with baskets and photos from Sunday gathering.

Club Meeting Sets June 11 With Parade Film

The next club meeting is scheduled for June 11 and will feature motion pictures of the Lexington parade. Attendees from Plamn Creekers parade include Max, Logan, Lisea Fanders, Dora Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Huttenmeyer, Victor, Frank Horsky, Claude Woods, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Spielman. The parade showcased 450 horses, 7 bands, and many floats along a two mile route.
